Assuming Skenes wins game 1 and you close it out with 1 or 2 of Herring/Guidry/Coleman what do you do for game 2? The rule is you always play to win right away and avoid the rubber game but is this team an exception? We've seen this team mash Sunday starters for super regional caliber teams all year but we know our Johnny Wholestaff approach can't buy an out in game 3. I don't necessarily hate the idea of pitching Money Dutton Little and Cooper in game 2 and if it goes to game 3 you have Floyd, Herring, Coleman, and Guidry. Obviously it'll depend on the caliber of game 3 pitcher our opponent has but am I crazy for this?

“that’s baseball” logic will tell you anything can happen in one game. Play to win game 2 and avoid the rubber match

Play to win game 2. Game 3 your only hope is your lineup can slug you to Omaha

I hate like hell to say it but I think it's unlikely that there will be a super regional.

I don't believe we have the pitching staff to make it out of a regional.

I hope I am wrong. I will be cheering them on.

They have the pitching to beat a #4 seed, then Skenes to make the finals. At that point, yes, they are out of reliable pitchers, but so is pretty much any team coming out of the losers bracket. They will be on their 4th and 5th choice starters with a likely depleted bullpen. The offense should be able to outscore them at least 1 of 2 games.

Yea I think we're fine to get out of a regional. Things get dicey in the super

Most likely in a regional you'll see us start someone like Coleman and use a couple more pitchers on Friday against a SWAC team.

A win Friday let's you use Skenes Sat and then Floyd to close it out Sunday.

In Regional, Floyd starts game 1 with Skenes in game 2. Hopefully Coleman starts 3 and our hitting clinches the regional. Realize our winners bracket game 3 will be against some team coming our losers bracket and their game 4. Their pitching situation will be worse than ours.

In Supers, Skenes goes game 1 and Floyd game 2. Hopefully we won’t need game 3

This approach has lost game 2 of the last two series we've played. After Floyd, we have been shelled. Nobody in a super is going to throw their ace against Skenes.

I think you have to save skenes for game 2, pray floyd and coleman can win game 1 and go on. I've seen that pproach backfire also.

No coach is going to risk going down 0-1 in a best of 3 series on the road.

To tell the truth I am more worried about a regional than a super. If we make it to supers I would go Skenes game 1 and hope he can give you 8 with Herring 1st out of pen. Sat Floyd for 6 or 7 First out of the pen Money then Guidry.
Game 3 if needed start Colman hope we get 3 innings then everyone else.

Why are you worried about facing weaker teams who have to play more games and use more pitching?

Because of a possible 4th game.

Skeens isn't throwing game 1 and LSU would be facing a team coming off at least 3 games having burned pitching who would have to beat them twice. Its like some of you only started watching the past two weeks.

Regional game 3 might be a score like 17-14 with our lineup and pitching.

He’s talking about the 2 team best of 3 Super Regional, not the 4 team sub regional. Of course Skenes starts game 1.

I’d move Herring into my #3 starter role in general.
