If LSU wins out and finishes second in the SEC...do we play in the Sugar Bowl? Do we need to finish in the top 12 or something along those lines to qualify?

I'll admit to being a little ignorant about the bowl selection process now that the system has transitioned from the BCS to the playoffs. I know Ole Miss played in the Sugar Bowl with three losses last season.

Sugar bowl is obligated to take the highest ranked SEC team not in the playoffs.

ETA: or sec champion if not in the playoffs.

Right, I am assuming this to be the case as well.

We are the second highest ranked SEC team per the coaches.

If we win out, we go to sugar.

Florida will drop one to us and possibly one to FSU. Tennessee will lose to bama in the seccg and have four losses.
Only way I don't see us playing in the sugar is if tennessee beats bama which is not likely of course. At that point, Tennessee would go as the SEC champion.

Records being equal, in no universe would the sugar take tennessee over LSU unless it was as a conference champion. Had Tenn. been playoff bound, then the sugar would almost certainly take alabama. Personally, even with a close loss in the seccg, I don't believe bama would drop out of the top 4.

eta: This also presupposes Auburn loses to bama. Which, you know, can be reasonably assumed.

Absolutely. Michigan will probably still be in the top 4 even after losing this week.
