Guys we all know what hurricanes and bad storms are like in La and Fla.

I was standing in Biloxi the day after Katrina hit and I was so depressed at what I saw. Knew the owner of Famous Joes real close to Palace Casino....destroyed his place and he just packed up and moved to Ocean Waves....one of his employees died in the event.

Worked for flood, fire and mold restoration company so I was at a lot of storms...retired in January...insurance companies just piss on their customers and it got old. I signed up the City of Pascagoula and we stayed there six weeks just doing tear outs after Katrina. We could have stayed there another 18 months doing repairs and mold mitigation but you wanna get home. Pascagoula was so thankful we were there...I didnt see another restoration company for at least 2 weeks after we started work...with out us...city hall, library, utility dept, rec centers etc etc would have been full of mold.

A lot of animals died during Katrina and its sad to see the carnage. The stray dogs and cats were hit the worse and no one there to shelter them.

Just hope everyone in SC pull through...football means jack compared to what mother nature can do to you and loved ones.

Hope the game is injury free and we will see you in another week.

I live in the other side of the state and Rita, although it did not hit as heavily populated area, was a larger and stronger storm. When we tried to evacuate, everything was saturated with Katrina victims. There were no rooms in the inn. We stayed home and that falls in the category of NEVER AGAIN.

Graves were literally washed up out of the ground in Cameron. When people went back to their land, they could not tell where they were because there were no streets, lamp posts, landmarks of ANY KIND.

No graves.. Seriously. Their loved ones were no longer there. The tombstones were gone.

I know we are all remembering that a bit this week.

Hope USC, which has had some rough times lately, rebounds and rebuilds, both in their state, their personal lives and on the field...

Geaux Gamecocks! God Bless South Carolina! Praying they feel our compassion.

you are a good soul - I could feel a little of who you are and the fact you started this post. life is made up of varied souls and most have a closed view of issues based on how it will effect me and mine.

bless you and yours

there is more than you see following you this day

Rita. The forgotten storm.

A bunch of people that were able to fend for themselves despite losing everything.

But they weren't "important" people, so like the Katrina victims in the land mass (Mississippi) they weren't talked about or recognized by the media.

Out of the 7800 homes that were flooded in Rita, 6400 were in Vermilion Parish alone and it didn't make a news channel. But the Cajun people picked up their boot straps and went on. I pray for the people in SC to have that same spirit, the spirit that built this great nation.
