This will be a matchup to watch all night. Clemson has long athletic WRs but I think stingley will rise to the occasion. The best comparison would be Collin Johnson from Texas and Stingley shut him down in his second career game. They wouldn’t even throw his way after that near INT in the first quarter. Teams have completely avoided Fulton all season so if Higgins and Ross can’t win 1v1s vs Stingley, I don’t see how Clemson wins the game

Clemson will absolutely test Stingley early. If he wins those matchups it can dictate the rest of the game. Derek can absolutely win a 50/50

Buckeye Jeaux thinks they’ll try and beat us with Lawrence running the ball because he had a single significant carry against OSU

They will try to get WRs lined up against our safeties and LBs and throw over the middle and underneath.

They will test Fulton, too. This is not the best matchup for Fulton, who does best against quick guys. This is perfect for Stingley, though.

Good!
Lawrence doesn't do this too well...

OU was lining Lamb in the slot and that was clearly the biggest mismatch on the field in OU's favor because neither Stingley or Lamb will leave the outside to shadow any receiver. This is probably the biggest weakness in our secondary and look for Clemson to exploit that. Our slot coverage has been lackluster all season.

While this is all true, Kary Vincent has improved tremendously from the beginning of the year along with Flott getting more playing time. Higgins and Ross are not slot WRs so it will be harder to move them around unlike CeeDee who was able to used anywhere on the field

I don’t know man he had over 100 yards in the game turned around when he started running.

67 of his 107 yards came on a single run. Outside of that, he had 15 carries for 40 yards

Keeping Etienne in check will also be important. But yes, if Stingley & Fulton win most of their matchups and avoid big plays it definitely swings things in our favor.

I agree. We're definitely not as weak there as we used to be. I think some of that credit also goes to an improved and healthier pass rush. I'm just saying the people thinking Stingley will be the main test are wrong, I think they'll test our slot more. If you remember, the big pass we gave up was Ceedee in the slot against Stevens.

I don't know anything about Higgins and Ross yet so I can't comment on that. However, judging from CeeDee's numbers and tape, he was clearly not an inside receiver, which limited OU's strategy there. Thank god there aren't a bunch of Julio Jones roaming the college landscape.

Clemson is going to make some plays. They have loads of talent and a good scheme. The question is whether they can keep up with the LSU offense. If Burrow continues what he's done all year, the answer is likely no

Trevor is not extremely accurate when hurried...
Stingley may have a couple of ints

However, one of the advantages that TLaw has is that he throws ropes at range, they aren't typical jump or 50/50 balls, Derek's instincts and positioning ability will give him advantage in most sets, though...

Pretty sure they have been throwing across the middle more frequently during the second half of their season.

I guess he can’t run then. Only 100 yards.

Etienne had 38. I guess he sucks too.
