I do agree with you. If Fournette had started since game 1, LSU's record might be different.

But who knows why the coaches did not do it, perhaps there were some legit reasons.

But just becuz, is not a legit reason. And I'm not sure he is the best option at kick returner, but I hope he scores every time he gets it.

Maybe he's just good. The Florida game was promising, but I wish people would chill. We've had freshman backs come in and look as good and in some cases better than Fournette has so far. That's ok. It's not a knock on him. I've never seen our fanbase act like this over a player before. It's kind of weird.

He has a learning curb just like the other players ,just running over people will not work because your body wears out and we have other talents that need to see the field !

I would agree with you but he looked really good in the five carries he had against Florida. He had like 10 ypc and looked faster than I've ever seen him.

who?

Kevin Faulk's freshman year through 6 games:
66 carries 366 yards 2 TDs rushing and 2 catches for 21 yards

Fournette:
93 carries 504 yards 6 TDs rushing and 5 catches for 86 yards. Fournette is on pace for a 1000 yard season. What more do you want? That is an exceptional year for a freshman, especially in the SEC

name another LSU freshman RB who has done better at this point in his career

Yeah, the only one you could argue is Vincent, who did not immediately play until Addai and Carey got hurt. Vincent was a beast in the second half of the season though.

LF is clearly the best RB on the team, and he isn't even getting double digit carries half the time.

Dude got 27 carries last week, what do you want?

I feel like we have packed it in for the season.

It couldn't possibly be that the coaching staff is bringing along a true freshman and feeding him the ball when he starts showing that he's getting comfortable with the game?

WTF is wrong with you people...?

yeah Vincent didn't come along really much at all until the second half of the season, and if LF's game against Florida is any indication, he should start to produce much more the second half as well. It's just mind blowing to me at what people's expectations were of LF. Put him on last year's team in place of Hill and LF is likely averaging over 100 yards a game

You do realize that sammytiger's post was before the Florida game, right?

Nope.

Sorry, Sammy, looks like the coaches were listening to you.

I still can't over all the bitching in this thread, though.

Nothing. I think he is really good and will probably get better. I just haven't seen any evidence of "once in a generation." That kind of talk is based on what he did in Tad Gormley and it should be left there. Just my opinion.

he's the best freshman running back we've had in almost 20 years, possibly ever. That sounds like a once in a generation type player to me

No. No we haven't - not since Dalton Hilliard, anyway. No knock against you, but you just can't evaluate football talent. If Fournette was draft eligible, he'd be a first rounder this year. He's not quite there yet, but by next year Fournette will be the best back LSU has ever had.

He is starting over 2 pretty capable seniors as a true freshman and definitely looks the part physically. The game is starting to slow down for him and you can expect him to continue improving.

He's on pace for a 1000 yard season as a true freshman in the SEC and just put up 140 yards and 2 TDs against a very stout UF run defense in the swamp at night with a very pedestrian passing game. If he was in an offense like the one last year where they couldn't crowd the box there is no telling what he is capable of.

There is no fricking way LF would have made a difference in either of those games, even with 30 touches. Our team got pushed around by those guys.
