That's what I'm thinking too. It would be different if Wilson was like a Matt Flynn situation, and I think that's what a lot of people are making it out to be. I'm not buying it. If they do finish ranked higher than LSU, it won't be 10 spots.

please tennesee is the only one.

Uf got some lucky breaks to stay with us, we were bout to blow that game wide open. The other team can catch a break, but we cant? We also rushed for over 200yds against bama. Oh and guess what, their d line is their weakest link this year. I expect us to be able to run on them again.

That is a piss poor excuse, period. Any program can use "what if" in every game they lose. Lack of execution is generally why you lose games...

I'm not making excuses, I'm just encouraging a FAIR assessment of LSU wins.

It's an excuse that is NEVER used when discussing LSU's "breaks" or "luck"...that angle is HIGHLY exagerrated and it's getting really old.

If every game last year were played in a perfect world, where BOTH teams capitalized on ALL opportunities, LSU still wins every game it won.

Every team we played last year caught a break vs LSU: Our inability to score a passing TD. Improve our passing offense and I guarentee you we win 10 games or more.

Petrino QB's will flourish most years and the offense will be close to the top...Maybe he's T Martin?? That would be great huh?

We need out D to take it to another level...

If we do finish 10 spots higher than LSU, it would have been a really good year

I think it would have been a really shitty year for LSU. I don't see Arkansas contending for the conference until the defense steps up. Could happen this year, but maybe not. Just haven't seen it yet.

A solid defense is better in the SEC than a stellar offense. Given the criteria to choose who is going to contend for the conference, I am going to look at the defensive side of the ball as the difference breaker. Almost every SEC team has solid skill position players on offense.

What the hell does SOS have to do with preseason rankings? Are you supposed to be ranking how GOOD a team is? I guess we have to deal with schmucks that vote based on what they expect final records to be. They can't accurately predict how good a team is. How could they accurately predict SOS based on how good your opponents are? They're all morons.

Stewart Mandel has ragged on LSU for the past three seasons. He always calls the school overrated when they end up in the top 5. I always take a little offense to it because LSU is always undefeated when in the top 5, as opposed to the teams ranked below us that have lost games.

Truthfully the only year in which we were truly cruising for disaster was 2008. '09 wasn't great, but we battled and were only truly outplayed in one game - against Florida. The refs blew the Bama game (not sure if we would have won, but we had a great shot), the Ole Miss game was a debacle, and the Penn St game was an insult to college football.

Last year we were legitimately beaten by Auburn featuring one of the greatest college football players of the last 10 years and lost to Arkansas because of those so called "breaks" with their two ridiculously unlikely long TD passes.

I think he really doesn't like the style of football LSU plays of winning with defense and controlling the game pace. He seems to favor the flashier teams that score a ridiculous amount of points against inferior competition until they arrive to a championship game against an SEC defense and lose.

I never can understand why people don't realize that our schedule...as brutal as it is...actually adds to our high ranking. Tulane years ago was expected to go undefeated, assuming they could win against USM...U-frickin-SM. They did, and they did. But they didn't finish in the top 10. Why? Chitty schedule. It's the reason Boise isn't a top 5 team. It's the reason we went to the 'ship in '07. Tougher schedule means higher ranking, until you lose at least.

I think people are underrating Ar-Kansas way too much. Most of their team returns and they were a 1 loss team going into the bowl game. The key is their QB but the times he played last year, he actually looked better than Mallett...

yea, their qb looked great in mop up mode. and, didn't arky lose most of their OL to graduation? a new qb and an inexperienced OL is not a recipe to bet the rent on. tu's gilbert looked better than mccoy in the nc game against bama 2 yrs ago and came back and struggled mightily the following year. you just can't "plug in" academic performance based on a small sampling in non pressure situations.
