Hield was 11 of 22 from the field. Simmons was 6 of 7. Simmons played 39 of 40 minutes. That means he averages a shot every 5-6 minutes. Niiiiiiice

He really is too passive. Too many times he gets handed the ball, doesn't even seem to assess the path to the lane, dribbles once, and hands it to the guy next to him. I get you're not a "guard" but shite you can handle and run the show as much as anyone on the team. Take it over.

It's been the knock on him all year. The best player needs to want the game on his shoulders. We've had so many close games this year where Simmons is not the guy taking the shot. Simmons is content passing out to teammates and letting the fate of the game rest on their shoulders.

Great player, phenomenal future, just not going to carry the team on his back when we need the big buckets.

Hield is a scorer. A true scorer. He was hitting 52% from 3 playing in the Big12.

He's also a SR. If Ben was a SR, we smoke this team and would be #1 in the country.

Only 1 of 5 from three in the first half. Then went nuts.

The freshman shite is getting old. Melo and KD didn't have that problem.

Why isn't Simmons taking 20 shots a game?

That's the problem right there. Trying to compare him to other players. Not every one and done player is that successful in the NBA right away. Stop trying to compare him to them. Some players come in and are ready and there are those who should stay for a year or two more but jump ship for the money. That's how the league is now. Regardless, he's still a freshman. You see the difference in Hield's and Simmons's game tonight. With better coaching, Simmons would be a lot better. Sadly, he doesn't have it at LSU.

Hield was incredible. He was as advertised. He shot them out of a deep hole. There were some possessions in the final stretch that I'd have liked to see managed differently but it's easy to nitpick after the fact.

Players were lights out tonight. Loved the effort and performance from EVERYONE.

I also thought Coach Jones absolutely managed the lineup the right way tonight. Keep Simmons on the floor, keep Victor on the floor. The key to tonight's game IMO is that Victor played much smarter and kept himself out of foul trouble which is what allowed Coach to limit the minutes for Robinson and co. Robinson stepped in and contributed positively in his brief stint.

I honestly have no complaints with this game. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Oklahoma is a helluva club. Shooters all over the floor.

If we play like this the rest of the way we'll make the tourney.

It's up to the coach to get him involved and design the offense to get it to him. JJ is not a good coach. It's obvious to us and now the nation knows it with how he's wasting the #1 player in the country. He's being exposed under the spotlight.

By almost beating the #1 team in the nation.

Makes sense.

By blowing a 14 point lead and letting the best player on the team and consensus #1 pick go 5 minutes without taking a shot. Open your eyes man.

I know, right.

Musberger and Vitale were bitching about Benny not being aggressive enough in the first half while LSU had built a steady 6-8 point lead. They just wanted to see the number 1 draft pick explode against the number 1 team because that's what neutral fans are tuning in for.

Johnny Jones deserves a fair amount of criticism for a lot of his coaching decisions, but I didn't see it tonight.

Wait. That's what you consider good coaching? Keeping one of the best players in the country on the floor is a top notch decision? Why the heck wouldn't he keep him on the floor? Do some of you people think before you post?

Quit being obtuse. You meant better but don't want to say it.
