You can't pull Hess out of the bullpen, because then your only viable option is Newman, and he didn't look too good against OSU the other day.

Nevermind, I see Kowar is going Friday. So we need Louisville to win Friday, so Florida will have to use Faedo on Saturday.

Best possible scenario if we can get by OSU somehow.

I'm not reading 4 pages to see if it's been posted. Lange Friday is the only guarantee. I'm happy for him and hope his gives us 8 solid innings or more. Assuming we win, it will probably be a combination of Gilbert, Bain, Peterson and Newman with a situational guy here or there. We need a hot hand and I'm hoping Lange and Gilbert keep their confidence.

I've never seen posters worry about games that might not happen. Worry about Friday damnit.

So if they lost game 1 of the series, we gonna trot out a scrub and just accept a loss in game 2?

History shows you're better off burning through your bullpen than throwing a guy with to little rest.

This is exactly why I think, if we make it, we need to piece together game 1, then Poche, then Lange if necessary. If we lose game 1, then lose game 2 with Poche throwing, at least you put your best foot forward. If you throw Poche game 1 and he loses, and you run out Austin Bain, Todd Peterson and Nick Bush, and leave Lange on the bench...... Plus that would give Poche an extra day of rest.

Any chance Walker has a Warren Morris moment and just wakes up pain free like he did on Championship Sunday in 96?

I will take a short rest Lange over Todd Peterson

None. He was pain free Monday, and it flared up on him. His muscles need rest.

I say if we make it to the championship series you just throw game 1 bc you're gonna face probably faedo or McKay then throw Poche Tuesday and Lange Wensday.

Came to post this. I think its the best strategy.

The only problem is that O'Sullivan may counter and hold Faedo if LSU tries to pitch down.

Wed: Lange

Wednesday, if necessary, would also be a Johnny Wholestaff situation, IMHO.

When the other team can just come out blindfolded and get hits and walks, there isn't much the pitching staff can do about it.

We should start Newman on Saturday. Gilbert has been great in relief, not as a starter.

I've never seen posters worry about other posters worrying.

Actually I have. All the time on here.

This is America. Folks can "worry" about what ever they want. Has zero impact on anything.

I'll excuse you for posting at 3 am.

That's just silly. This isn't a "one game at a time" situation because LSU has to win both of the next 2 games and then 2 out of the next 3, and the pitching decisions in each game affect the available pitching options in the remaining games. If we only worried about Friday then obviously we would start Lange with Gilbert and Hess in relief - and then probably lose badly on Saturday. Speculating on things like how to get 45 innings worth of pitching over a 6-day period down a starter is the reason sports message boards exist.

4 days rest for your starting pitcher is kind of the golden rule.

MLB starters pitch on 4 days rest. 3 days is considered short rest.

Fri - Lange
Sat - Gilbert - both of these have already been announced.

Monday Game 1 - Poche
Tuesday Game 2 - TBD / Johnny Wholestaff
Wednesdy Game 3 - Alex Lange

THE ONLY WAY Alex Lange pitches Game 2 on 3 days rest (assuming we've made it this far) is if he begs CPM to give him the ball and we've already lost Game 1.
