This looks good. I think too many are forgetting Brockers. Hopefully Davenport doesn't let a freshman beat him out. Would love for those guys to get a redshirt.

I think D-line will be fine as long as we don't have too many injuries. I would bet Levingston starts ahead of Downs. He does nothing spectacular but is solid and can see him being a guy who can eat some blocks and allow the LBs to do their job. Edwards and/or Agaheyre could slide inside I think if they had to.

Was posted a week or so ago that Mingo was up to 230lbs.

230 would be a good weight for Mingo to play this year. It would allow him to keep his speed and quickness off the ball. But he will have to continue to bulk up over the next few years.

would some one please god tell me what is so wrong with Mingo playing LB?....6'5 230lbs LB that can run and hit...hell Ro Mclain was 6'4 250!...

We dont need anymore lineman, we need LB's bad and we have two that our idiots coaches want to make into "situtational pass rushers"....bullshite...i want some big donkeys that are gonna hit a RB so hard that he blows snot bubbles like the one in the movie the program.

Put MACLIN AND MINGO at LB and leave them there!

Maclin 6'4 220lbs
Mingo 6'5 230lbs...

add ten lbs to maclin and he's set..

He is suppose to be in the best strength and conditioning program in the country. Josh Williford has made great strides since arriving. That is what redshirt years are for. Particularly for lineman. Wasn't he coming off of some kind of injury?

think it's Adams at one DE spot with Agahyere at the other with Mingo, Montgomery and Edwards rotating in.

This.
Adams is a beast! Montgomery and Mingo SHOULD see significant playing time though.

At least 1 true freshman dlineman will be in rotation if not 2. Copeland and/or ferguson. Both beasts. I think these 2 and brockers are our future at dt.

We'll see a lot of rotations. Chief liked to utilize his depth while at UT and this season he'll have some to work with. The starters against UNC may turn over quite a bit by the time Arky comes around. A whole lot of young talent gets a chance to prove themselves this season. Only Peterson, Sheppard and Nevis' jobs are safe IMHO.

Am I the only one who thinks that Minter starts at Mike backer NLT week 5? Dude is in the 240 range...he could play the middle and let Big Shep go outside. Baker/Francios would play opposite side of the field.

in Chavis's defense "big" Shep cant play outside...needs better man cover skills for that position..

I dunno...Coleman played there and he struggled in coverage as a safety. Of course, I would hate to see Shep used primarily as a pass rusher.

Looking at these projections I get excited. The defense this season has a very high ceiling and on paper are perhaps the most talented if not top 2 most talented defenses in the SEC maybe the country.

I thought he originally came to LSU as a LB? I was kind of shocked to see him moved to DE, but he looks like one hell of a pass rusher. I wouldn't mind seeing him as an every down LB, instead of a situational player. Lets just see how Chief utilizes him...
