Harris needs to keep on the zone read more often. Dude is a talented runner and could really break some big runs with defenses focusing on LF7.

I'd say the overall talent and depth on this team is pretty obvious. I enjoyed watching Aranda's defensive alignments and exotic blitzes.

I'm very excited.

I saw enough, even though I wanted to see a lot more, to realize that he is head and shoulders above ever other QB on the roster. Throws were crisp and on target and touch on short passes that we usually never see (even in past spring games.

I do agree with other posters that the way they did the SG was a muddled mess though. Should have had Harris and Etling the entire first half by themselves 1s vs 1s and 2 vs 2s. Then gave them 2 series each in the 3rd where they both got to work with both offenses and against both defenses. Whatever time was left would have been for McMillan and the rest.

QBs that will never see the field were playing in the 1st quarter.

If they got you that excited, perhaps you found they were also erotic blitzes...

as long as they didn't lose by over 11 points, bammers count that as a win

Do we not have plays that involve a pass down the middle for 10 - 15 yards?

Guess you missed the several throws of that sort to the tight ends and the 15 yd completion to Malachi on 3rd and 22 in the 1st Qtr. Included in that is one where Harris made a great throw to Jeter after he ran a double move toward the middle. Ball was well placed away from the defender, but Jeter didn't get his head around in time.

Dude it's a spring game. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to get excited either until I see improvement in a real game but they aren't showing anything in this game. Just wait a bit until you go into frantic mode. And because our first team defense is prolly gonna be tops in the country doesn't help make our first team offence look better either.

metric frickton of soundbites from Miles about how much things have changed and great were gonna be throwing the ball. Then Harris gets like 4 series. Not much opportunity to see if the changes are noticeable.

Most coaches would rather not have a spring game. It's just another opp to make money for LSU.

They aren't going to show much. You don't think Alabama had someone sitting in those stands today? I assure you they did.

Thanks, I know the obvious, but could we have completed passes and not gotten into 3rd and 22 in a scrimmage?

Fun to watch. My observations:

-Wr's are better. Better routes, better hands. Impressed with Dupre, Chalk and Johnson....and EE FR!
-BH looked more poised at qb. Made his reads, made some good throws. Ran when it was an option
-D front 7 looks small, especially DR at ILB. He looks like a S playing ILB. Going to be very challenging vs teams who want to play smash-mouth fball....AKA Bama and ARK.
-DB's look good. S Smith will be a great DB at LSU.

Again, good spring game. Like what I saw. Honestly my only concern would be at LB. Beck must stay healthy....wish we had another 240-245b ILB in the cupboard. Did see D White make some plays. We'll see if he can get on the field with the 1's. Aranda will have to make it work with his schemes. GT!!!

Etling should clearly be the starter.

This. And I was there.

meanwhile a true freshman qb at bama was 11-15 120 yds and a td..

this board would go wild if an lsu true freshman qb or not did this

Correction. Harris would be light years beyond every SEC QB if they would stop trying to force him to be a pocket passer and let the kid do what he was built to do. He is damn good when he knows he has the option of running the ball if all else fails but it looks like he gets a bit panicked if forced to stay in the pocket.

I agree with most of that...but BH wants to go to the next level, so Cam is trying to prep him for that..

3rd and 22 and a 15 yards completion means 4th and 7. I'm thinking 15 yard completion on 2ND and 6. Or 1st and 10 or 3 and 6.

It looked like white was being asked to truly read the offense. He's such a great athlete... I can see what they're doing, they're fast tracking him mentally, seeing what he can handle. I hope when fall rolls around they stick him beside a veteran who tells him what to do and let him just go full speed without having to think. He destroys the gap he selects, he just doesn't choose properly all the time yet, which is expected of a freshman.

When this guy gets the scheme fully, he's going to be a force
