Why don't we run a hybrid spread with the running game?

We could still run "spread" with a FB on the field to give a legit extra blocker for either BH or LF. We are build for power run, but we need to utilize BH to get him moving as well. He's a decent run threat.

Thoughts, ideas?

It's not a new concept. Ohio State, Clemson, Baylor, Houston, SMU all run the "Power Spread" scheme.

Bo Schmbechler never ran the spread.

Personally, I think LSU under utilized the TE position. Based on your power run game, your TE should have easy PA block+release catches all day (similar to Arkansas and Bama). Everyone loads to stop LF or your WRs running deep; y'all should catch more defenses by surprise in the intermediate TE game. It should be there for you.

We have recruited the players to do it, we just do not have the coaches in place to run it.

why not just have 3 wr's...guys that are actually a threat to opposing defenses.

we can easily run a shotgun spread and utilize our qb in the read option and also run some I formation at time also. We need to be more versatile...if the power run is getting stopped have an option.

Because LF is our biggest threat to any defense

BH has to really work on his short throws this offseason because if he can consistently complete those, it's game over

Yeah

and I think he's more dangerous with an extra blocker.

I think he would be more dangerous with one less lb on the field...and running in space...I can only base that off what I have seen him do to opposing dbs though

I understand what you are getting at. They are still going to load the LOS. 4 wide and just LF in the backfield, they will still force us to throw

I like our chances if the load the box with 3-4 wrs...if we can't make defenses pay for that we need new coaches

You realize that if guice and Tyron Johnson and others are on the field it takes away some of the attention buga gets?

If we have 2 TEs and a FB buga is the only person the D really has to worry about

Sure you may be right. But that means we have serious mismatches to try to exploit now
