Special Team punt coverage

Has anything changed here, why the last few weeks have we given up big plays here and what can be done different. I realize the ability of the guys that ran these back on us, but even so against dangerous guys in the past with the speed we have and the hang time Wing brings this has not been an issue. On a side note, huge fan of the guy but boy did RS wiff on the tackle on the punt return yesterday.

I don't think Wing is doing near the job he was last year. Remember last season how effective and accurate his punts were at pinning the other team deep? This season he has put some in the end zone instead of inside the 5 or 10 yd line. I would like to see the numbers.

We also don't have tm7 and ron brooks as our gunners. Those boys got to the ball carrier in a hurry!

I agree. A 58 yard punt that goes in the endzone is not so great. A 49 yard punt with hang time would be much better. He seems to be off his game a bit this year.

I don't think a&m had more than 5 yards in PUNT returns yesterday.

I don't think he's getting the hang time so the returners are getting space when they catch the ball. He's out kicking the coverage.

Yes, I can tell you why. We do not have TM7, Claiborne, and Ron Brooks on that coverage. They have not been replaced well. I noticed that the last two games. Punting is off, not as good as lasy year, Why? Just bad games?

simple answer. we are not as talented on special teams as in the past. we do not have a SUPER STAR ATHLETE on the entire team. no chad jones, PP7, TM7, claiborne. this is hurting us on ko and punt returns. we are awfulon returns.
