How can you give our Offense a 1 vs Ole Miss?

Those bad INTs in the 1st half against a defense that was missing 6 starters lost that game for us.

Your offense couldn't run the ball on Georgia. That probably played a huge role in your team's loss.

Your coach had a number of brain farts in your last game. That played a huge role in your team not making the SEC title game nor the BCSCG.

IMO, you have Mett and Miles to blame for Ole Miss. Three ints looking for the same person on IIRC, the same route, is ridiculous. That's on Mett, on Miles, you bench Hill on the fumble. Not because he lost it, but because he fumbled period? If you've watched any of the 15, 16, 17, hundred plus yard RBs, they have a huge volume of carries. Hill needs enough carries a game because almost like clockwork, he can hit ya for a 40-50 yard TD.

Against Bama, bad snap and fumble put us in the hole, and we lost all morale. Should have been up 14-3 and that kind of momentum does wonders for a game like that.

UGA loss was just that the OL gave up at the end and Mett was a sitting duck.

If our defense was ranked 20th but actually created turnovers people would be singing a completely different tune

I brought this up earlier in the season, we have absolutely no playmakers on defense, none. I have a feeling White will be one in the future, but we just didn't have that this year. No ball hawks, no ball strippers, nobody to get in the backfield and blow some shite up. Our D line was weak as shite the whole year save 1 or 2 games.

Wow.. 350 yds allowed/game gets you a Top 20 defense in today's game. Shows how much the game has changed.

True. But There were just a lot of good offenses and the traditionally defensive league (SEC) was predominately offense. On the flip side, for every team that out up those numbers on our defense, we put up close to or better on theirs. This bringing it down.

Just for reference:

LSU's 2013 defense:
350 ypg
23 ppg

LSU's 2008 defense: (considered the worst of the Miles era by many)
326 ypg
24 ppg

They gave up less yards and all of 1 point more per game in 2008.

You have to understand that the whole landscape of football has changed since then. There were not this many high powered offense five years ago and defenses were less penalized too. We've started to see the point-a-minute offenses sprout up everywhere. The damn NFL is spread now which is why you see so many young guns coming in and tearing it up their rookie seasons.

Because of the rapid expansion of the spread-option, air raid, no huddle-hurry up offenses, that same offense that was ranked 26th in 2007, would have been 38th last year, and would have been 42nd this year. Times are changing.

LSU's defense was ranked 28th in 2008. Not much different. Both defenses were terrible.. stats or not.

several things:

1) the defense was not dominant like we've gotten used to seeing at LSU
2) the defense didn't seem to do a good enough job of creating turnovers
3) the defense did significantly improve as the year went on. shutting down A&M was a statement game

The offense was probably the story of the year tho - if Jennings develops rapidly under Cam there will be a window to accomplish something special.

Stats don't lie...and everyone plays mid majors out of conference games, so can't make that excuse.

Offense...
Avg Yds/play = 7.29...6th in nation...2nd in SEC
3rd down conversion = .589...best in Nation and SEC!
Completion % = .647...22 nd in nation...5th in SEC
Scoring = 37/game...21st in nation...6th in SEC
Passing eff.= 171.1...3rd in nation...1st in SEC
Total Yds = 465.3...26th in nation...5th in SEC
Rushing Yds = 35 th in nation...6th in SEC

Defense...
Avg Yd /play = 5.31...32 in nation...5th in SEC
Scoring = 22.7...30th in nation...4th in SEC
Passing Eff = 119.7...37th in nation...3rd in SEC
Passing Yds = 200.8...17 th in Nation...3rd in SEC
Rushing Yds = 148.8...43rd in nation..6th in SEC
Total Yds = 347.7...20th in nation...4th in SEC

Bottom Line our O AND our D were similar in terms of effectiveness relative to all NCAa and SEC team stats. Exception to that statement...our O avg Yds per play and passing efficiency was simply outstanding...right there with FSU who is laying for the BCSNC.

So nega tigers...take a deep breath....got lots more good to be proud about here.

38-17. Your coaches had a number of brainfarts last year which played a huge role in 2012 LSU not playing Georgia for a shot at the national championship game. LSU had Alabama beat but couldn't finish. LSU is supposedly the team to beat and the greatest of the BCS era, yet they lost to Alabama's B or C game in Tiger Stadium, "the place where dreams come to die", LSU dreams that is.

I don't know what to think about being 20th defensively. Felt like 60th. We were not very good on defense this year. Perhaps I'm judging by LSU standards.

I watched the game. A&M's receivers had drops and Manziel was off target. Come to find out, Manziel played his last two games with a broken thumb. I've also read objective LSU fan analyses regarding the 2012 and 2013 A&M games that admit that A&M's playcalling did not exploit what LSU was giving. You're supposed to take what the defense give you, and Texas A&M either didn't spot it or refused to adjust their gameplan two years running. Missouri shut down Texas A&M too, so the results of the LSU game weren't that phenomenal.
