So are you saying Nick Saban is a terrible manager, or that the corporate structure of a successful business has nothing to do with college athletics?

If you know what youre doing and can handle it then sure, micromanage. Not everyone can. Satan has a different persona that allows him to do that. He commands respect and excellence from his players through discipline and fundamentals. Smiles tries to "connect" with the players on a personal level and be their friend. He focuses on "passionate play". Satan is a "do your job" kind of coach. One style isnt necessarily better than the other just different strokes for different folks.

What Less Smiles tries to do works for some like Pete Carroll but not for Smiles but thats because Carroll is also a good X's and O's coach. I think if Smiles completely turned the playbook and game planning over to an offensive version of Dave Aranda his "cheerleading" style would work better. He could monitor the players emotions and get them pumped on the sideline and let smart people handle the X's and O's. Smiles is a players coach and he needs to play to that strength and let go of the playbook.

If Smiles only recruited, was the figure head and pumped sunshine during the game I think the team would be a lot better off.

whats wrong with misdirection, quick slants, middle screens, passing to the TE, more than 3 formations, more than 2 receiver routes, a little read option, the draw play.

We did all of this last year.

So I watched the first half cut-up of the Florida game(because it was the first one that came up when searched). Good game to look at actually because the talent level is close enough, good defense in Fla, both undefeated at the time and somewhat near the halfway point in the season.

I only got through the first half.

LSU ran 27 plays.
55% of plays in I-Formation
2 to 1 in run to pass
2 to 1 QB under center vs. shotgun
9 formations used
2(7%) pre-snap motion plays
3(11%) play action plays
0(0%) 4 or 5 WR plays
17(63%) ran between the tackles
0(0%) toss to outside
1(4%) read option play
1(4%) trick play
1(4%) screen plays of any kind
0(0%) passes to TE or FB
