We let them set the tone and pace of play. Around 7-8 min left in the game, we were down like 4-5 as we were most of the half, but at that point I thought we’d ramp up the pressure because we only had 4 team fouls. So sure enough we did a bit and got a few steals and got back in it down 1 I believe. So at that point, Coach decides to just do the semi press, but stopped trapping aggressively. I understand we don’t want to leave people open, but the level of pressure that we applied earlier in the season was nothing like what we did later in the season. I know some of that was to make them bleed clock etc., but with us having such a difficult time scoring throughout the second half of the year, I would have liked to see more traps that actually trapped especially more so tonight with no one in foul trouble but Tari. I think we could have sped them up more and pull out the win, but we were content to just play slow. And we clown Calipari for his junk defense, but a Box and One or a straight up denial to their shooter would have at least got them out of their flow. Instead we did nothing. No adjustments. Just sad to see game after game other teams be more disciplined and actually make a shot or two.

How bout staying on your man and not leaving 3 point shooters wide open. Something this team did ALL YEAR.

When they couldn't turn the other team over, their D sucked. There was a reason they fouled all year...
and it wasn't the refs.

LSU hasn’t effectively guarded a three point shooter in at least 5 years.

They don't learn from previous plays. This guy shot a rainmaker from 27 ft. or more and Days tapped him on his arse "Good Shot". Days stayed 6' away from him on that last shot once again and he drained it. Get in his jock and don't let him get a clean shot off, and have Gaines on him in case he drove for speed to keep up with him.

LSU had the 6th best 3 point defense in the nation this year

If that’s not effective, then we can at least take solace in knowing that there were still 344 teams this season who were more ineffective against the 3 than we were.

Wrong, our FG% and 3pt FG% D was among the best in the country. Like the other poster said you obviously didn’t watch this season.

My biggest complaint is how many 3s we shot. We suck at 3s

Given the outcome, gotta give Iowa State credit for their strategy.

They doubled every single entry into the post and sent multiple defenders to help any time we had a semblance of a driving lane. Essentially, they took a calculated risk that we were not going to beat them in the paint, even if that meant consistently leaving us wide open for 3. It worked. No matter how open we were, we just could not hit the shots they were giving us.
