figure out that you have to have a better offensive line to overcome the inability of JL to have a downfield threat.

did you miss the 50 yarder to RR...what about the 25 yarder to TT on 4th....or the other 4th down to RR for 10 yards...or the throw out to spencer ware in the flats?...

yeah...all of those were done in ONE GAME in his first REAL action this year...

Those aren't just league stats though.

yes they are...
they dont lead the nation in rushing the leade the SEC...vs SEC competition and that would be Miss St and Vandy...

that tells me right there you dont have a clue as to what you are talking about..

JL is FAR more of a downfield threat than JJ. FACT.

You are ABSOLUTELY right.

The problem is that even though he's MORE of a threat than JJ, he's still NOT ENOUGH OF A THREAT to back the safties off.

Miles is going to have to play BOTH QBs (maybe even all three) if LSU is going to even have a chance to beat Florida.

To me, it's a no brainer... Lee looked good, led the team on the game-winning drive... yet, He is starting Jefferson. Why?

My opinion: because the coaches feel that J Lee first needs to watch the opposing defense from the sideline, get a feel of the speed of the other team, get anxious to get in, then let him in the game. Maybe they feel he does much better when rotating in rather than start the game.

Why are you so quick to jump to false conclusions just to try to make it look like you're right? Are you that insecure?

Yes, LSU leads the SEC in rushing - BUT THAT INCLUDES STATS FOR 5 GAMES, NOT JUST 3 SEC GAMES.

Do you really think we are going to be able to run for anywhere near as many yards against UF as Bama did? Honestly - you really think so?? What does the post hestor/Matt Flynn history say about that?

Even if we get 130-150 yards rushing, which would be a great total, and we only have 37 yards passing on JJ's 4-14 and 2 Ints, we still probably lose.

My bad, 4th.

But LSU still has the #1 rusher in the SEC - counting all 5 games.

quote:

#1 Stevan Ridley, LSU RB JR 5 97 557 4 5.74 111.40 15

LINK

...which still supports my point, how can LSU have the #1 rushing RB in the SEC with such poor QB play?

Let's go back to where I was wrong about the SEC stats:

I said: "LSU hasn't had a passing threat in a long time, yet they lead the league in rushing"

If I correct that to say, "LSU hasn't had a passing threat in a long time, yet they still have the league leading rusher." (which is still a valid point)

can you honestly refute it with this:
"we have played Vandy and Miss St. of course were going to lead the league in rushing..."?

Not really.

There are two camps, pro and anti-Miles.

I happen to be i nthe pro-Miles camp (obviously) primarily because he's the coach. Nothing I can do about that, I'll support him until the end of the season and then make my judgement on the whole year.

The anti-Miles folks just won't have their minds changed - even with another NC. Yes, they have a mountain of evidence to prove that Miles is incompetant.

All I can do is try to answer the OP, and generally, using Miles' own words, the reason to start JJ is because he gives Ridley a better chance, and HE'S our best offense right now - #1 in the SEC over 5 games. So I was wrong about the Team Rushing, Ridley is still #1 in the SEC.

I've backed it up with numbers from the UT game, and I stand by it.

The only counter that I found valid was "Why not rotate RS and JL". The only reason I can think of is that the coaching staff has seen something in RS in hours of practice that are mercifully keeping the fans from seeing on Saturday afternoons.

Let's face it, we don't have a lot of good options at QB right now. It doesn't really matter who starts, it just matters if one of them can score.

That wouldn't surprise me.

I've also noticed that he goes down kind of easy. Hollidayesque.
