People felt the same way about Hester before 2007 because he wasn't flashy. In the last two years Blue has 118 carries for 818 yards with 9 TDs. That is an average of 6.93 YPC with a TD every 13 carries. I don't understand why people question him, his production is REALLY good.

I literally just checked out that link before posting. Dude it was Washington!

Yeah, Blue never really had a large amount of SEC experience. I'm sure he will be fine though.

He also played against cupcake teams in 2012 and in 2011 he played in garbage time when the game was already in hand.

saw a good running back, but not great. I have the want for him to be great and I was watching for any glimpse of that greatness and the only thing I saw that really stood out was his ability to catch the ball.
I completely agree with you. I felt like if we had to rely on just Blue for a RB we were in big trouble.
Having said that though I love the kid and hope he has a great year. He and Hill can be a one, two punch.

Truth is Blue is not Hill, but still a gifted runner. Hill is first round talent even in the committee system that Miles employs. But every back since Miles has been there is capable of rushing for a 1,000 yards if he chose to feature them. That's the kind of talent they keep getting at RB and will continue with Fournette and Paleli now.

48 of those yards came on one carry in the 4th quarter of a blowout. half of his carries that game were in the 4th quarter

this. The guy has average almost 7 yards a carry in his limited, but not too limited action during his career.

He has enough power to push a pile and he has enough speed to be a breakaway threat. Of course Jeremy Hill is better, but Alfred Blue does everything you want in a back too.

Blue has gotten better. I have said it here before, when Blue committed I wished we hadn't taken him. Didn't see the point of waisting a scholly on him when we didn't need him and should be able to get someone better.
Since then I have watched Blue go from confirming my fears to seeing him get progressively better. He has had steady improvement and is a darn good back now... or at least before he got injured.
The thing I like about Blue is even though he doesn't get megayards that he shouldn't get, he ALWAYS gets at least what you think he should and sometimes a bit more.
Hill looked better to me but I think Blue is a damn fine running back and probably brings some stuff to the table besides running the ball.

He averaged 5 yds a carry vs Florida in 2011. He led the team in rushing and averaged 12 yds per carry in the SEC CG vs GA.
He needs to prove he can be durable, but he has size, speed, vision and can catch it out of the backfield. I think he's our most complete back....he can play every down if needed.
If you don't see anything in Blue, just watch him split the GA safety and Brandon Boykin for his TD run in the championship game.

tell me he played in garbage time against a top 5 run defense in UGA who in 2011 hsld us to 12 yards in the first half? Him and Hillard alone won that game 8 rushes 94 yards 1 TD, Hilliard 8 rushes 72 yards 3 total TDs. Don't give me that wear em down bullshite either. You can't wear down any damn defense with 12 yards and JJ finished the game wiyh 30 yards passing.
Prior to Hilliard and Blue showing out, we couldn't do shite.

It's not his fault who he played, and I'm pretty sure he was injured that following week.
Oh and it's the same Washington that took down Rose Bowl winning Stanford. Not saying their a national power, but they're not some scrub.

Hell they said Magee was the best in the scrimmage the other day and Hill wasn't very productive. So ya never know. Glad we have multiple good options

Yeah, I want to know what the OP's definition of greatness is, because if you watch Blue's highlights, it's obvious. He hits the holes with great speed and has probably the best vision of any of our RBs.
