But that's what frustrates me about BA's college baseball coverage. Not that they don't have LSU #1, but that it represents a stubbornness to hold on to their preseason outlooks, something they do throughout their coverage throughout the years.

+1

I would be fine with FSU #1 and LSU #2. but winning 2-3 at ECU doesn't mean a loss to wright state is meaningless. So many teams look more impressive early.

There is also no reason to have Rice at 9 and Stanford at 23. They don't even pretend to think on the field play matters.

There are probably 15-20 teams that legitimately fall into that category every year.

You're right Greg. I was just trying to add some insight from somebody who actually sees alot of ACC baseball every year.

UNC should contend as well.

Bring Miami or UCLA in for an early season series instead of Centenary.

Why?

Wouldn't that be obvious. A series with Miami would be far more entertaining and garner more attention on the national scene than one with the Gents.

None of that really matters much. If we win the SEC, we'll more than likely host a regional.

Probably...but Miami or some of the other big names would want LSU to return the trip in the future and I have no problem with LSU not wanting to travel in the pre-SEC schedule.

We seemed to do just fine last year with a similar schedule to this year's.

This isnt football...come on. And Pepperdine has a few really good pitchers...like that last lefty they faced. LSU practices with and scrimmages against the best in the country...that's enough for SEC play. So if they play against the best OOC teams in the country before SEC play...what's their record going to be? 25-5? prob not...24-6? umm..not likely...23-7? ..hmmm...nope...22-8? nah...21-9? welllllll...maybe...but we were 20-10 last year and even in the Bertman years we didnt avg 20-10...so im not sure what your pt is..

I don't mind a weak OOC schedule..just don't complain when other fans point it out.

The fascination with baseball polls boggles the mind.

A team just wants to be in the top 8 at the end of the season so it can receive a super regional at home.....assuming it wins its regional.

But being a top 8 seed has absolutely nothing to do with what the polls say.

It's pretty damn weak.

i'm not knocking the team..hell with theyoung players it's prob the bset for them to play weak competition to get the "swagga"....but lets not be so insecure we can't point out the obvious.

2 against pepperdine and 3 against KU (top 25 team). so thats 5 games out of 16 or so against quality opponents. not really the definition of "pretty damn weak".

I agree Pepp is norm. a pretty good team..but they are 4-7 at the moment. so it's hard to put them up there as a quality opponent...and i'm not sure if LSU faced their ace...if so my bad.

Now...I will give LSU credit for scheduling SLU...that will help their RPI late in the season being a battle of two top 15 teams

pepperdine has beaten two top ten teams as well as a good oregon team. they've just had to face a ridiculous schedule. and we faced and beat both of their aces.

So you think they are better than their record based on schedule?
if LSU had the same schedule and was sitting at .500..would you not point out say if Virgina had the easier schedule and was undefeated? That's all other people are doing. and it's a legit point...not saying it changes who the best is..but pointing out schedules is not a knock on a over all team..just pointing out facts
