The defense isn't moving up by 5 with two outs and no one on.

Seems to be the best response. It makes zero sense but it is what it is.

it also somewhat of a timing technique...

I mean in baseball you have guys that do all kinds of funky stuff with their hands, legs, and hips...but at the moment the pitcher releases the ball, they are almost all in the proper swing position.

Its to keep the swing short and tight..Timing is reduced, and prevents that long swing that might reduce contact..

It's a timing thing

It's a freeze/bring in & show the rotation of the defense thing.

Can't speak to LSU and Bianca Bell but here's why We do it in travel:
*pull in the defense or to read the defensive shifts..
*pitcher is dominating our big swings, the show-bunt/hit shortens the swing and increases the odds of punching a ball with pop...
*if a player is swinging and missing it puts both eyes on the ball.
*or, I'm just screwing with the other team.

Its not to draw defense in...she does it on every pitch...it's a timing thing... she pulls bat back in plenty of time..I've coached softball for 20 years trust me it's for timing

I have another softball question. How in the frick can you make contact with the ball when you are 5ft outside of the batters box? That shite is so aggravating

If you make contact and you're 5feet outside the box then you're out

Left handed players are closer to 1st. Because of that they bunt/slap more.

I understand that but my question was how in the hell is it not an out to make contact so far outside of the box?

If they made contact with the ball 5ft outside the batters box they would need a 5ft long bat.

Come on bra you get the point. Whether it's 1,2,3 ft outside the box, it's fricking outside the box I can guarantee you that. They start running before they even make contact

All speed players learn to slap bunt from the left side when they are 9 or 10 years old. My daughter was almost automatic when she played.

There are many reason why they do it. In softball it's no big deal. I wish it was taught more to the little league kids but everyone wants to hit home runs.

Ronk...those of us who have daughters that play softball or people like me who coached it 25-30 years are trying to give you an answer and then you still want to debate? What a dummy you must be...if it works, then don't change it. It's simple.
