Softball is a stupid sport with all this slap hitting BS. Here's a novel idea stay in the batters box plant your feet step into the pitch and hit the damm ball!

You would think it screws up their timing doing that

I wish it was taught more to the little league kids but everyone wants to hit home runs.
It's illegal in some leagues at the lower level. Too dangerous for a kid to charge the bunt then eat a line drive.

Somebody 30 years ago won a little league title run slapping at the ball, then every other expert copied it. Here is the sexist reply.... it's women having two upper body obstructions that need to be put in motion quicker in order to hit the faster moving ball. Also women from Venus, softball women from Mars.

it shortens their swing. because the pitcher is so close to the plate, this allows the hitter to start her swing from the front side of her back shoulder instead of having the bat far back.

The rule is that some portion of the foot must be touching the line of the box.

I should be more clear. If one or both of your feet are completely out of the box upon contact with the ball the batter is out. If the foot is touching the line that is legal.

hell why take a running start to swing a bat
