There will not be a full time DP. I doubt there will be a consistent #2 DP until someone can show they can hit over .250 Walljasper has shown power and could be given more of a hitting role if someone else doesn't step in and at least contribute some base hits consistently.

"Savannah may be... Or Bell. As good as Ashlee Ducote was her junior year in 1999."

Uhhhh, sarcasm?

Savannah will go down as the best player in school history when she is finished. She and Bell will rewrite the school record books.

This could very well be true. She is tearing the ball up and learning to play third. If she can handle third as well as Ashlee did, she may well pass her as the best lady tiger in school history!

When we defeated Arizona, I believe one team was ranked #13 and the other #14 but I don't recall which team was higher.

I assume we're now in the top 10.

We jumped to #7 this week in the nfca poll. Looking at the upcoming schedule, we could be 25-0 heading to face #1 florida in Gainesville.

UL-Lafayette is up to #5, but a bit untested so far.

Her future isn't at 3B imo. Her primary position is C. The great thing with her is she is able to play multiple positions at a high level defensively. If any of the kids on the team that can play 3B well were able to hit anywhere close to her, they would play and she would DP every other game like last year. I am sure you're aware, and probably agree: A/A+ bat with a C/B glove > C/B bat with an A glove. Case in point: Bell. If we are being 100% honest, she is not a very good fielder, yet with the bat she swings, I doubt she ever moves from SS. When a kid brings that bat/power, you eat a couple of errors per year and hope they don't burn you in a crucial moment.

Incorrect. Yes, Bell will make some errors now and again...but she also makes her share of great plays. She is the best SS on that team and it isn't even close.

If you feel that way, that's fine. I have just seen her make to many easy mistakes that I feel shouldn't be made for a player at this level. The game against La Tech comes to mind as the most recent example. I think there are couple of ladies on the team who are her equal defensively, maybe better, so I wouldn't say it "isn't even close" but that's just my opinion. That said, I have no way of knowing if she is the best SS on the team. I do not attend practices, do not plan on. I also believe we will never find out because she will not move from the spot until she graduates.

Bell is not the best infielder for sure. But her bat takes care of they few errors. Although it seeems her fielding is much imporoved this year. There is no way You take Kloss from behind the plate. Jaquish is the third baseman for the near future. Hopefully her defense continues to improve there and all will be fine. IMKO, Constance Quinn may be the all around best player on the team... Can't wait to see these girls in OKC!

Have Jaquish & Kloss not been rotating games behind the plate this year?

So Kloss doesn't have to catch every game. Unless Sahvanna kicks it around at 3rd she's not not going back to primarily C for a while.

She won't "kick it around" much. She is simply to good of a player. That said, as long as both are there, I doubt either will be the "primary" catcher. Just seems beneficial to have the 2 being able to rotate at the position. If another lady on the roster could play 3B at a high level and hit as well as Kloss or Savannah, I would think things would look similar to last year. I got the impression Savannah is playing 3B due to the lack of a hitting 3B on the roster, and her ability of course. Like I said before, I think she goes down as the best player in school history upon graduation.

A bit off topic, but the softball team isn't technically "Lady Tigers." The "Lady Tigers" are only those who have a male counterpart sport ... so basically basketball, golf, and tennis. Otherwise they are just Tigers.

Just a fun fact for you that I learned when someone in the athletic department corrected me about when I said the same thing.

So baseball doesn't count as the counter sport to softball?

apparently not. because when I was corrected I was specifically talking about softball while I was at Tiger Park.

I just went read the most recent article on the team. They are referenced as the "Tigers", no use of "Lady Tigers".

Thanks for the info

They should all be called "Fighting Tigers".
