Imagine yourself in the unenviable position of OC of a team preparing to play the Tigers. What's your game plan? I think I would just keep running the ball to shorten the game and hope my defense keeps us close. We know the spread doesn't work. Hurry up doesn't help, and actually may make the defense stronger. A pro style passing attack would get eaten alive by the track star DEs we have and the cover corners we can put on an island with TM7 playing center field. So, I think the best bet would be to run run run in a power formation all night mixing in a short passing game to pick up 5 yards when we need it. And you would also need a whole lot of patience. Of course, our DTs are run stutters and we have so many of them that they're definitely not going to get tired, but at least if you keep it on the ground and tell the RBs that ball security is job 1, then maybe you can eke out a few FG drives and hope that 9 to 12 points is enough. And you won't be giving the LSU offense a short field when you keep punting.

But if you had to play them, I do have one prediction: PAIN!

Counters and traps. Run North and South between the tackles. (LSU's offense).

Mis-direction passes.

You have to use their advantage against the...I think what you wrote is a great game plan. BUT...being able to execute it is another thing.

LSU is really really good! Bear Bryant would struggle against this team.

And slots crossing the middle.

Quick passes, slants, screens all night long. Two deep shots but not right off the bat. Drain clock whenever given the opportunity to do so although offensive game plan will not help that.

completely agree with you guys ... counters/traps, misdirection, quick slants (if the receivers can get off the line of scrimmage) ... and find SOME way to stay ahead in down and distance ... 2nd and 3rd long is disaster for any offense against this LSU D

What Florida "could do" with Rainey worries me...he is the kinda of guy if he can get some stuff underneath and we overpersue, he could make us pay with some big plays...

We did face a Rainey-type in the first game - LaMichael James as well as the freshman kid (Da'(?)Thomas) who fumbled.

I would be very unorthodox with almost all disguise and misdirection. Flood one side and throw to the other. Try to keep as much one on one as possible, as LSU is like Piranha and like to attack you with numbers. ALL my passes would be quick hitting stuff. They will not be overpowered, or worn down.

While it would be minimal I agree getting into the seam just behind the DL surge is a possibility. Our LB's and DB's would close in quick but repetitive plays like this with a quality TE could possibly do damage.
We really don't know though because we haven't seen it attempted against us yet. I do know that the Demon TE (Aldredge) had a a fairly effective night against us.

If I ran a pro-style offense, I would do, sort of, what LSU does - I, Power I, and run the same plays to either side, then play action out of that. I would try to mix some pistol or spread packages in on 2nd/3rd down and short.

I would try to win 1st down, particularly running plays out of my base set and play action from those formations. I would also like to run some WR screens off of motion to force the defenders to defend the width of the field early to set them up for longer pass plays as the game progresses.

I would try generate space for my QB by either moving the pocket with my strength, or disrupt the pass rush schemes with bootlegs, middle screens and draws (particularly on 1st down and downs where they might expect passes).

And when that doesn't work....go to a dark closet and crawl up in the fetal position and suck your thumb. LSU defense that good.

short pass them and suk them up, then bust it over the top. run a lot of draws and traps, misdirection. WVU will move the ball on this team.

I just don't see the WVU O line matching up well with us. Maybe Bama or Florida's, but not WV.

It's probably going to take a power, up the middle game. This D is built to be a spread killer, you can't create mis-matches, and the closing speed when you do get someone in space is killer. Plus the tackling has been real good so far.

Well you can't run on LSU so we will find out this week. I'm sure WV will throw 60 times against LSU. Maybe throw everydown and hope you get lucky.

I would play my most athletic quarterback and try and try to mimic what Auburn did against us last year. I know there is only one Cam Newton, but Chris Relf was able to run for some big plays.

You have to find a way to isolate and expose our lb's. Bringing an RB and a TE out in pass formation.
