No. If everything that's rumored to be true then NO ONE should be saying shite about this kid not playing Saturday.

Definitely can relate on a smaller scale. Wish the best for him.

Can't. Admins will whack the thread and whoever posts it will get a timeout.

These young men have personal issues from time to time, just like all the rest of us.
I hope folks will give him the space and support he needs while it gets worked out.
The rest is just a game...

My only guess is that it must be health related family issues. Again, I have no knowledge of the situation but this would be one of the only things that I could see having enough of an effect on him to quit.

If this is the case, I wish Hurst and his family the best.

From the Times Picayune this morning:

quote:

Equally as damaging, junior Alex Hurst -- who has started at both tackle spots this season -- is battling a combination of injury and dissatisfaction with being shifted to the left side and is likely unavailable against the Gamecocks.

Hurst is one of my favorite players. For those who may not recall, he was in Tiger Stadium as a potential recruit for the Florida game a few years ago when LSU went for it on 4th down multiple times to beat a Tim Tebow Florida team. After the game he sought out Coach Miles and committed on the spot. He watched a good offensive line, an unflinching will to win and a crazy fan base who did not let up the entire night. Hurst knew it when he saw it.

The kid is exactly the kind of player we always want and need. I hope things smooth out at home for him because we need him.

I accidentaally ran into a former starting lineman last night,Thursday, at a reception for a lot of business people. If it's true what he told me about Hurst's VERY private personal problem, then it's best we leave it alone. It's not him,but someone very, very, very close to him that's got a major medical problem, that only time will tell the result. It could be one day or one month. A medical decision will be made real soon and it will be resolved. Let's give him some space and some time and it might get solved and things will be O.K.. I personally believe this guy, he played high school ball for 3 years with my son, and I know him well. He's been to my house 10 times, slept on my couch about 3 times. I believe him.
