So what's the deal with the Jordan strikeout?

I can't for the life of me figure out how in the hell the ump called a K on that pitch. If, by chance, you don't know what I'm referring to, one of the Jordans (Bryce I think?) "struck out" on a ball that came damn near close to hitting him in the ankle. Obviously no where near the strike zone. Replay showed his bat didn't come anywhere near close to "swinging" even if you're being pedantic about it. The announcers basically gave a laugh and a "ha, got some help from the ump about it".

I've pretty much gotten over the blown "double play" ball that should have gotten us a 1-0 lead, because it was a bang-bang play and that's the way baseball works, but that "strikeout" was quite possibly the worst call I've ever seen in all my years of watching baseball.

To be fair... That pitch was pretty close to the strike zone... Btw trying to blame the umps for this loss is crazy. The bats were silent today.

I agree with Peterson. If he doesn't jump "into" it, and just stands there, the pitch probably wasn't a strike but really close. Him jumping gives the impression it was close to hitting him. I know you're going to disagree because of your post but I saw it live and questioned it initially, and then was ok with the call after the replay.

Those 2 get hit a lot for a reason. They lean, lunge and kick into a lot of inside pitches. Pays off sometimes. Bites you in the arse at other times.

It was inside but it was closer than it looks because it was tailing inside hard and the catcher swiped and caught it. Making it look even farther inside.

It was an inside pitch, but it wasn't as bad as his reaction made it look.

I'm pretty sure we went up and down in order in that inning. I'm not putting the loss on that play by any means. Far from it. I'm just commenting on (at least what I perceived to be) how horrible the call was. I'll admit I was cooking and watching from a distance live, but i walked up to the TV when they showed the replay and it looked pretty damn far out the zone. Other than watching the replay, I don't think anyone will have that on a highlight reel, so it's hard to rewatch to judge.

I watched the catcher's glove on the replay. It didn't appear to move an inch. Obviously tried to pitch JB inside. The ump knew it and decided to punish JB for exaggerating the pitch.

It was flat out awful. No it wasn't closer than it looked. But we never scored, so it's not why we lost. But was the call flat out retarded... Yes.

Was at the game with no replay. How close was that ball Reid grabbed from being foul? I looked like he was arguing that it was foul when he grabbed it.

Ball might have been two inches inside and at the knees. His reaction caused the K
