If you didn't attend the University, you are a bandwagon fan...

If you did your time, lived on campus, paid your tuition and got your degree(s) at LSU BR then you can say "we".

If you've lived in Louisiana all your life, have a cajun name & half your clothing is purple & gold, you can say "we"

Most everybody else are pretenders

That doesn't sound like an LSU fan.

That sounds like a tacky mother fricker

My modest proposal is that the Alumni Association sell official alumni gear that you can't buy unless you show proof you attended the University for at least one semester.

What does going to the university have with being a fan, Mr. Swift?!

I did my time and got my degree, however I did not play football for LSU. Is it proper nomeclature for me to use the term "we" when refering to the LSU football team, as in "We" beat the greatest collection of college athletes ever assembled last Saturday? I have to admit, I felt as though my sitting on the couch had very little effect as to how "we" played

I've lived in LA all of my life, but I estimate that my clothing is only about 1/14th purple and gold (I know I'm crazy, but I tend to wear clothes of many different colors throughout my day to day life). Do I still qualify?

I also have had season tickets for 20+ years. Does this make up for some of my fandom shortcomings?

Please advise

For me, it's people who say "we" when referring to the football team.

I know a shite ton of die hard fans that do that. I've also heard Spurrier use "we" when he talks about Florida or reminisces. Even though he hasn't coached there in a long time.

I was a high schooled in the 90s in north Louisiana. Every buddy I had as well as my football coaches gave me gruff about how terrible LSU was while they were rooting for teams like FloridaSt.

Now I see constant Facebook posts from virtually all of them about Geaux Tigers.

I know it shouldn't but it has made me angry ever since the first title.

Same here. Except I graduated from Catholic High/BR where it was cool to go to Alabama, Ole Miss, FSU, Texas, etc. And if you went to LSU, those same types you are talking about looked at you back then as though you were trash if you went to LSU.

A gross over-simplification, but those fans who think winning is everything.

Real Tiger fans just don't care what other people think, really. They just support the team.

This applies to me, so I need to know this as well. I only have, maybe, 10-12 LSU t-shirts.

I do have a cajun last name if that helps. TIA.

You don't have to be an Alum or a student to be a real fan. I am a student, my father was, and so was his father. But that does not make me a real fan. Plenty of students couldn't care less about our team until we are winning.

True Fans defend and support LSU, tailgate, go to games, and stay in their seats even when the game sucks. And if they can't afford the tickets, they watch or listen to it any way they can.
