Are you saying Luck isn't mobile? Because he definitely is.

I think you're confusing "mobile" with "running QB". Luck can move evasively and effectively in the pocket. Mett struggles mightily in that area.

I don't agree

Mett is a hard read as for draft purpose in my mind.

His mediocre performances vs. Fla., Old Miss, and Arkansas are hard to understand after his dominate games vs. Ga. and Miss St. He had only 2 ints in his 1st 7 games, but had 6 ints in his last 5 games.

His lack of mobility will be an issue and I don't know what, if any, effect his injury will have on his draft.

I'm thinking 3rd to 5th rd.

Brady, Manning, Eli, etc say "sup"

Mett can sling it and is accurate with a pretty quick release.

He will play and was beating out Murray while at Georgia...and he outplayed him while at LSU last year...Murray had some sick receivers in his time there as well.

Translation...steal for anyone in the 4th. I think it's great though, that means a solid team will take him to learn under their starter. Someone like NE wouldn't surprise me one bit.

For the guys saying it's because he had two great receivers:

I love Odell and Jarvis and they are great receivers. But we all saw what happened in the bowl game, 82 yards passing? I know it was a freshman QB and all that but mett is part of the reason we saw their potential. How many passes did he throw to Landry in tight coverage on a rope very few QBs would even consider throwing much less actually attempt. How many far side deep outs to beckam... These guys made each other great and Mettenburger is great in my opinion. Jarvis and Odell could have easily been 600 yard receivers and forgotten about in 5 years with a lot of the QBs we had the last 20 years. Imagine josh reed without Rohan davey... He was still incredible but wouldn't have put up near the numbers and be remembered in the way he is now.

I'll take the opinion of Todd McShay, who makes his living doing this, over an LSU fan that feels his QB is being underrated.

Todd McShay is a joke.

Just because you do it for a living doesnt mean youre good at it.

Because in the NFL he will have shitty receivers, a weak O-line, and slow unathletic running backs.

Guess he thinks the Saints will draft Mett

I don't think this is a crazy prediction at all.

it's really hard to get a feel for where Mett's gonna end up until after his pro day

Those guys are future hall of famers who are not only athletic, but obviously bring other rare skill-sets like pocket presence, poise, and accuracy to the game. Pump the brakes on comparing Mettenberger to three of the top QBs of an era; two are certainly among the best of all time.

ETA: And no one is calling Mett garbage. Assessing him as a mid-round draft pick after a college career that most would rate as decent and a serious knee injury is not at all a ridiculous proposition.

Once they see his arm up close at pro day and Cam does his thing for the kid, I think someone will jump on him in the early 3rd.

Like I said before, I don't think Mett drops to the 4th but it is possible. What is laughable is having Logan Thomas ahead of him.

I think McShay is a fricking moron, honestly, whether he's right or wrong on this call. Mett's extremely accurate, and has the biggest arm in the draft. I think you could still label him a project, due to his one year of play, but doesn't that in itself speak to his potential as a prospect?

To say his weapons made him what he is.... well okay, let's look at that then. You've got 2 NFL WRs, and that's it, and one of those happens to be the slowest WR in the draft. No TE, no 3rd WR option, NOTHING. Was the OL good? Yes. But the defenses we played were almost all better. He did great standing up, in the pocket, taking shots and delivering the ball. Running game? Well, true, you had the best running back since Kevin Faulk, so touché`. The bottom line is he's big, strong, slow, clutch, and can make all the throws. Sounds a lot like another Georgian QB in the league I know come to think of it.

Meh..if he heads to Houston he has a chance.

Fwiw, I don't expect Mett to do anything special while in the league. I do believe he can stick around as a good backup.

Gee, wouldn't this mean that "under an NFL OC" he could very well get better and better?

My God, I am so glad more people are figuring this out. Have these guys seen him in a game? I challenge people to go watch tape of his games (all of his passes/runs in a game) on youtube. This is utterly ridiculous that teams haven't learned from this crap yet. Manziel better be lucky that Wilson paved the way for him to be considered a top 10 pick. Wilson was way more developed than Manziel is IMO.

His ACL called bullshite on this.

His OL was dominant in run blocking and decent in pass blocking. Mett is way too slow and he needs a line like Brady has. Like Manning had with the Colts. That acl problem happened when the TRUE FRESHMAN lineman got beat.
