So Florida forfeits, right?

Right?

I mean, that's how I see it. They unilaterally cancelled a game they could have played at a multitude of venues.

This should count as a victory for LSU and a loss for Florida.

Cowards have set a new precedent for getting out of having to play a game you're expecting to lose.

It would be a W for LSU. LSU AD needs to do something.

Alleva just confirmed that this was not a mutual decision.

In sports, when one team unilaterally backs out of playing a scheduled game, it's called a forfeit, and it classified as a loss for the team unwilling to play the scheduled game.

I think we should keep this in our back pocket for the next disaster that happens here. Apparently we're not required to pull effort out to play the game. It's optional. Bet USCe feels like they got screwed last year too.

Alleva needs to start advancing this narrative in the media.

I guarantee you Foley would cave and play Sunday or Monday at whatever venue if the prevailing narrative is that Florida, by definition, forfeits it's game against LSU.

At least they nutted up and played the game.

And they did get some revenue out of it, albeit far less than they would for a regular home game.

Were you the caller at 5:50 who suggested it?

Why do you want an easy win? Why do you not want to have to beat Florida in their stadium with their crowd to earn a win? Where's the competitiveness?

Nobody wants an easy win. But they won't play, so why should everyone else be penalized.

I couldn't care less about it counting as a loss for UF.
It should absolutely not negatively impact LSU. The SEC should count it as a win for SECCG purposes.

Bottom line is that by definition, this is a UF forfeit, and our side needs to start calling it like it is.

It would be one thing if we hadn't been on both ends of this exact situation in the past and managed to get the games in somehow.

We played on on a Monday (Tennessee), played another at the opponent's venue (ASU), and played a road game in Tiger Stadium just last year because of flooding at the opponent's home site.

I can empathize with the residents of the state of Florida and still recognize that this is a cop out by the UF AD and needs to be called what it is in the media and in the official standings.

Nobody wants an easy win. LSU bent over backwards to play this game. Foley is a coward and he unilaterally backed out at the last second.

By definition, this is a forfeit. All I'm saying is that we call it and classify it for what it is. If the game gets cancelled because the other side is too chickenshit to play, that by definition is a forfeit.

How about we come to an alternative agreement whereby Coach O and the coward meet at the SEC office for a no rules cage match. Whoever taps out or gets knocked unconscious forfeits this weekends game.

It's not acceptable to (potentially) have 2 SEC teams playing one less game and the SEC office has had 3 days to make changes. The SEC Commissioner should be fired for incompitence. He gambled and he lost.

Foley gambled. I think the commissioner just sat around with his thumb up his arse by not makin Foley come up with a contingency.
