If you suck you get to continue but if it's deemed intentional you're ejected? That the gist of it?

I think that might be the shortest and most succinct response I've gotten in my 9 years on TD. No sarcasm. No hate.

It just doesn't seem right...

Someone please explain to me WHY in the world would you want a pitcher that was giving you free base runners ejected? Please tell me the theory behind this the guy was maybe throwing 80 MPH. That hurts for maybe half a second

I don't understand the people acting like it was intentional. His FB was just running on him, it's happened on and off all season.

It happens.

Even Ben McD was stressing that it wasn't intentional.

Sidearm delivery can easily run to the throwing side of the plate. He's right handed. Not intentional. Kendall's was intentional though. Never forget

Why would you be mad at a pitcher giving you free bases late in the game, down by 4?

This was my question too. I was at the game and laughed at all of the fans calling for the ejection. 1. Why would you ever want a garbage pitcher out of the game. 2. He wasn't intentionally throwing at batters. 3. As a former baseball player I can say with confidence that all of those guy would gladly take one off the flesh to get on base and help the team. There should have been cheers instead of boos. It was weird.

In the major leagues these things are usually determined by the situation at the time of the beaning. There are situations where everyone in the stadium knows the next pitch is intentionally going to hit the batter and its nearly automatic that the pitcher is ejected.

Umps seldom eject a pitcher for a random errant pitch. They determine intent by what else has taken place during the game.

That said, SEC umps are special.

It wasn't random though. This pitcher hit 3 out of 4 batters and almost hit them several other times. He even hit a batter, had it waved off by the ump, then hit him again.

I've seen pitchers ejected for much less.

When you have already hit people and done so quite frequently you no longer get the benefit of the doubt. I highly doubt it was intentional because it would only hurt his team. Either way the guy hit four people in one inning, not a game, one inning. No matter how you look at it that is ridiculous and should result in an ejection. He even hit a guy twice in one at bat, I've never even heard of that happening before. I don't think it would have been a big deal getting a different pitcher either because for one maybe it gets the crowd back into the game and secondly he was a submarine pitcher. Facing those is rare and that can be difficult to adjust to in limited plate opportunities given the different arm slot upon delivery.

You can seriously injure a player. If you can't control your location they will eject you for player safety.
