So DE was having an INT problem at Purdue?

Just how bad was his problem? I mean, Purdue isn't exactly a Big Ten powerhouse. How much of it could be due to them being completely outmatched and outperformed? Just curious.

No one here can predict Etling's performance for this year. We do know he was a freshman playing at Purdue.

I'm not trying to predict performance. Just wondering about past performances.

He was straight out of playing for a last place high school and went on to playing for the Boilermakers, who were dead last in the Big 10.

He now, for the first time in his life, has some real playmakers around him.

If he can just not force the ball into coverage and check it down or run it when there isn't an open look, he will be fine.

You're right. Sometimes I forget where I am. Logical discussions have no place here on the rant.

Douche.

It was said before this season that all LSU needed from BH was average play in order for LSU to succeed. He didn't deliver. The same should apply to DE as well. From what I saw, he met the mark. If he can improve from here, even better, and as long as the OL figures out their scheme, we could be in the hunt as originally predicted.

Everyone else in the country who saw that game would likely conclude that LSU no longer has a quarterback controversy: DE is the guy for now. But if this turns into a shite show quarterback controversy because for some reason we don't go with the obvious choice at this point, then all bets are off.

Yep. We have the best RBs around. All we need is for our QB to give enough of a threat that they can't stack the box on us constantly to let the RBs get the job done.

I think everyone is missing my point. I'm only asking about his tendency toward INT. Not whether he will lead this offense, or who is better between him and BH. Just wondering if that INT problem was a problem of him forcing plays, or what have you.

That's worse than BH last year 13 td 6 int for BH last year.

I need to investigate this DE guy a little more

I wasn't missing your point. I was making a different one.

At this point, we don't know if he will be prone to picks. Sure, he MAY have that tendency, but his stats at Purdue were as a freshman. Spring game stats are not live and as we've seen, any real conclusions from that are sketchy at best.

What we do know is that so far, BH has not met the mark and DE has. DE has earned his shot, but we won't know the answer to your question unless he actually gets it.

and after 3 quarters and under 50% completion percentage Etling has met the mark?

Started last 7 games as a true Freshman with 10 TDs and 7 INTs. Went 33/45 for 485 yards and 4 TDs against Indiana.

So before the Indiana game he had as many or more INT's than TD's

it doesn't sound like he had that bad of a problem. what does it matter anyway. comparing the play of a 4th year guy to when he was a freshman is useless. you are wasting your brain son. go invent something!

True Freshman that threw for 485 in his last game of the season. When's the last time LSU had a player sniff 400 yards passing ... Davey?
