Laws don't always make people safer - they tend to fill the jails more effectively, though.

Here's an awesome factoid about Oregon...

Self service gasoline is illegal.

My dormmate from LSU was here on business and said he tried to pump his own gas and almost got tackled.

We do have some fricked up laws around here but it is what it is.

To my fellow Duck brethren,

Please stop arguing with tiger fans. It is obvious that most that those engaging in this debate just want to pile on because we are a threat to CFB tradition. The player that perpetrated the incident is suspended and unable to rejoin the team until he complies with team rules. No other college football coach would suspend Darron in this incident. Furthermore, LSU just got hit with sanctions, they are implicated in the Lyles situation, and have veteran on their team facing possible suspension as well. So, they can look in their own mirror. No other Duck fan should participate in any thread regarding this bullshite. I was on here stating that Cliff should be suspended when the incident first arose. Cliff is guilty and is getting his deserved punishment. DT is not guilty of anything but being in that car.

Please end the maddness and stop. THIS IS MY LAST POST REGARDING THE SUBJECT - please make it your as well.

So if all the speed limit and stop signs were taken down and no DWI law do you think driving in La. would be safer?

Fatalities Per 100 Million Vehicle Miles Driven (2009):

Louisiana 1.83

Average annual car insurance premium:
Oregon $1,185
Louisiana $1,793

I've driven in Oregon, they are excellent drivers. In Oregon a good driver is considered one who drives safely and defensively, in Louisiana a good driver is one who can win a dirt track race.

You should be MUCH more scared to drive on the roads in Louisiana than Oregon.

Big difference is we didn't try to cover anything up like y'all apparently do out there in looneyville.

Btw, how many times have you had to say this about DT in his 2 year @ OU?

DT is not guilty of anything but being in that car

So the other 3 guys in the car lives don't matter to you?

Good point. Part of me maybe does not see this big because I have never been high, so I have no clue how much it effects you. But your right. That is probably one reason Cliffy has been suspended for at least 1 game. Remember CLiffy did get in big trouble with this from his coach. But with the State of Oregon he only got two citations, speeding and driving while Suspended. However, they were very large fines. I personally have just been explaining Oregon law some, defending that. Me personally I do not see speeding as a big deal. Try driving in Cali for instance and you will see the masses easily go way faster. Plus, hardly no one was on the roads then and the cop noted he was not at all driving bad or wreckless. So if it were me, I would not care hardly at all about the speeding. I feel if you speed, then dont cry about having to pay a ticket if caught for it. As for the pot? Ya I care, but there is no proof that Cliffy was high or even smoked it. The cop easily saw cliffy pass all his tests and was not high. So this gets complicated. Me personally, I think driving while suspended is nothing. In my mind that is like a business issue that you never paid a fine off or took care of with the courts. I think Kelly had a problem with his speeding. But I was saying, I personally would not be upset about it, speeding. If one was driving out of control, then ya, but if under control but fast, I personally could care less. If it was true that Cliffy was smoking it as he was driving. That is where I have a problem. Driving Drunk or high on any drugs is very dangerous. And I would go off on him if I were a cop or a coach for that issue. But there is no proof of it. And he was checked out and passed easily. So what do you do? Cliff said just his cousin was smoking it in the back seat. But was their any evidence to suggest any more were? They probably all were, maybe true, but there is zero evidence that was the case.

ever heard of the word accomplice?

Just being associated with criminals pretty much makes you one.

So all 3 combined in a car that it wasn't even legal for him to driving in the first place gets you sympathy in Oregon? Awesome...

No, it gets you a CITATION - in Louisiana it gets you JAIL.

And see my post above, it's still safer to drive in Oregon than Louisiana.

Who died? And did not the cop notate that Cliff was driving very well and not wreckless? So, where is the crime?

No one in the car was committing a crime - under Oregon law.

How many out of staters were killed in each state? Oregon doesn't get many Texas drivers

I'm not saying he should be punished, technically he didn't do anything wrong. I want him to play. Just want you to understand all these players have most likely smoked and weed is not a foreign concept to us in LA.

I never said it was foreign to LA. I personally have no clue if it is or is not. And I have never stated anything to even have a view of LA in that matter. But you are very true. They all got really lucky. Lots of technicalities in all this, for sure.

So he was in fact "in possession" of weed and admitted to it then?

You do realize that simple possession of weed in Oregon is NOT a crime, right?

That's why they call it DE-criminalization.

idk why everyone is obsessed with DT smoking weed. It will be legal VERY soon, and some of the best football players ever smoked weed. Ricky Williams, Randy Moss, Percy Harvin et. al...weed certainly didn't hurt those guys...and certainly didn't hurt Michael Phelps either!

I don't really care one way or the other. However, I 100% believe that if it was anyone else in the entire state of Oregon they would have been arrested.

Answer my fricking question dickbag. How is driving 118mph in a car that doesn't belong to you ON A SUSPENDED OUT OF STATE DRIVER'S LICENSE not constitute an arrest? Is that legal in Oregon?

Man, I thought I answered it already. It is not legal per say, but one does not get arrested for it. It is considered a driving infraction. In Oregon law they make a big difference between infractions(like citations)and crimes(arrestable offenses).

Like Jaywalking is illegal. And one could say it is a crime, as it is against the law. However, it is just a simple citation issued and not by definition of Oregon law considered a true crime. And btw, most cops do not even arrest you for it but just warn you, if that. Small amounts of Pot, driving while suspended(except the felony type)and speeding(except wreckless driving) are all in the category of simple infractions, and not true crimes or arrestable offenses to the best of my understanding.
