So Cameron's playbook didn't have quick slants or "easy passes"

In a normal job, Miles would gave have been fired for cause for willfully being too chicken shite to meet professional standards

Makes you wonder why "professionals" over-complicate scheme when the answer seems so simple.

Les had him run his plays and when he didn't, Les ran his plays.

Common denominator is Les.

Glad to see him on his way to retirement.

Miles took those plays out of the offense after 08. Too risky. If they get a deep pass intercepted its like a punt.

That 08 season really did change his modus operandi.

Problem with Les was we ran just a few very basic plays that anyone could recognize when we lined up.
Never understood why he made success so difficult.

I always thought a screen or quick curl was an easy pass and Cam had a lot of those

It's only an easy pass if the entire defense isn't aware that the vast majority of your short passes are outside the hash curls.

Corners squatted like mother frickers on our WRs. And, NORMALLY, you could take advantage of that on double moves except that against LSU, Safeties also didn't have to really give a shite about the middle of the field so on the occasion we busted a CB squatting, he had "over" help.

Of course we had this in the offense.

We never ran it. That is the bigger issue is having and not ever using it, and repeatedly running into 9 man fronts in the box. Asinine.

The difference between last night and the previous nights was that the play did not run through Coach Miles. I would find it difficult to have to run a play through someone for approval every down, every series, every game. Time management difficulties can be attributed to being forced to come up with another play IF the boss didn't agree with the initial call. Kinda' like verbal ping pong...If Coach Miles would have allowed his OC to call the game, Coach Miles would still be the the Boss.

I hate curl routes in college. It only works well if the QB and receiver have great timing. IMO college players tend not to have that kind of refined timing like in the NFL.

Curl routes are great and can be almost unstoppable in the NFL.

That's what I think too. LSU easily implemented such passes last night so they must've practiced them before.

Even in 2013 the passes seemed more downfield, often into small windows and requiring difficult catches.

We literally had Dupre on a slant out of the slot at any time we wanted it last night.

I agree somewhat and maybe that's why we had random plays called instead of attacking the defense. They ran out of time and said ok we have to go with this lol that's so ridiculous but it's probably true. The play that convinced me last night was the draw from shotgun that DG took to the house. The previous play was a fake and quick throw so the small time it took the linebackers to notice was all the OL needed to get them out of position. This is how it works and imagine if we were well versed in this and running it like a machine how good our offense will look?? It's amazing that our coaches didn't fight Miles more on this, I know I would have. I want to look good while winning and if he didn't agree with me I would have given up my job. I wouldn't keep going along with what isn't working. Must have been extremely frustrating for our assistants. I'm sure everyone of them were just waiting for this and it looks like they all had plans to what they would do differently had they been given the opportunity. This is so great. Loved seeing a dominate LSU team again. They really reminded me of the old 2000 Tigers. They looked great and all were exhaling out there. Was refreshing for everyone. See ya Miles!!!!

It was obvious to anyone who has followed LSU football that, even if those were there, they were never in game plan.
Not just slants, but rub routes, drag routes and high percentage throws. It was discouraging to see other teams use simples concepts like clearing out an area by running off the db and then throwing underneath.
I don't think that either Les or Cameron ever considered that you chew the clock with an effective short passing game and sustain drives.

Well, I don't blame any of them for not quitting their great jobs.

we killed in 2013 doing this, put Odell and Jarvis on the same side and they'd work over a defense. guess our last couple QBs weren't able to make that work.

Aren't having quick slants, short out routes, bubble screens necessary to build up a confidence of a QB? That's like fundamental coaching.
