"Still" working on it and what happens if it's not renewed -- it rolls over.

People are reading too much into the rollover part. Neither side would let it come to that, and if it did LSU would just fire him either publicly or privately to close the loophole.

I would not be surprised if he leaves. I would not be mad or upset at it either.

Starting to sound like LSU doesn't want to pay him what he was making and he doesn't want to take a pay cut.

Cameron’s contract ends on March 31. Like all of LSU’s assistants’ contracts, it rolls over for a term of one year if A) it’s not extended and if B) the university decides not to end the deal.

I'll take this option

Cam's got a ton of leverage. I mean you can't just let the architect of the 106th best passing offense in the nation walk. How would it look?

Exactly and he is probably seeing what he can get from the NFL. I think the fact that they are dragging this out means LSU is going to significantly cut his pay. Which they should.

At this point, I agree that 2013 was a long time ago. I'd like to see an incentive-heavy contract that would make success too good for him to walk away from (and money well-spent on our part) and failure to make it easy/inexpensive to fire him.

The problem would be - if this doesn't happen and he walks to an NFL job - who is available to hire?

Rumor is that's what he's been offered. Cut in base pay but with incentives that could add up to a little more than what he's currently making. They'll argue over a few details and he'll sign, this is all pretty transparent from where I'm sitting.

A young up and coming coordinator would love to come to LSU and coach a deep o line with veterans. Two talented wide receivers that are going into their 3rd year of starting with talented young guys to back them up. Second year junior starter at QB. All that before you get to the fact that they have probably the best player in college football at running back with very capable back ups.

More likely, LSU isn't offering more than a 1 year deal anyway. So, Cameron isn't in a rush to sign (keeping his NFL options open).

Because Les has no say or influence in the offense, right? That 106th ranking is all Cameron's doing. Some of you people should really quit watching football.

I don't think he's looking at a specific job. And, I don't expect an offer to come.

However, if LSU is only offering a 1 year deal, why not keep your options open given the alternative is just a 1 year deal?

With his health issues, wondering if he would not sign the contract with LSU, where would that leave him with regards to picking up new health insurance? Cobra is expensive as hell, especially in his situation. Point being, I would think he needs to stay.

Fair or not, someone has to be seen to be accountable. I don't see Les volunteering to walk the plank in his friend's place.
