He was asked “how did you envision Paul when hired” something along those lines

He said I didn’t envision 6 NC or a dynasty, because where are those coaches you show me. The game today is a ball hit an inch foul or a pitch that’s called a ball that shoulda been a strike next pitch base hit instead of SO. It’s not the coach or the players it’s the game. He’s not lying. Baseball is such a wild sport how many close games over the years of the ball bounced one way or the other. 1500 wins and a NC only 5 coaches in the history of the game and he left because he felt he’s not at his best and wants the best for LSU. He’s a legend in his own right

Skip realizes you can’t have the success he had in the college game today, yet somehow so many of this fan base can’t recognize that.

nah, can’t do 5 in 10 anymore.
but more than 1 in 15 is doable.

and i think most of canvass knows that.

They will when they aren’t satisfied with the homerun hire either.

Nobody said it’s not doable, but it’s not easy. How many people have done it or even had the chance to compete in two championship finals? The coaches and teams who have had that kind of success have recruiting advantages over LSU and there’s 0 evidence that any of those coaches would have had that type of success at LSU.

Skip told me a couple months after the hire that Paul M was one of the best and most detailed coaches he had seen reminding him of Saban.

Hard to have success when you choose to start two hitters batting under .160.

I mean, hitting around the Mendoza line is not good, and Paul thought he could beat a tournament team batting two guys far below that.

This is true.

But I think he was also trying to be kind to the man being honored and didn't want to upstage him.

Don't get me wrong. Paul is a damn fine coach with a fantastic resume.

Skip is just a rarer breed and didn't want to say so for obvious reasons.

So do you not have any standards or what?

You are just the extremist on the other side of the people with unattainable expectations. Both of y’all are crazy

Right.

And Skip wanted to make it clear that he believed in Paul from day one and still believes he was absolutely the best choice for LSU all along.

People second guess Skip all day long but one thing I have never doubted is that he genuinely loves LSU and put everything he had into making LSU great. He and Paul are very much cut from the same cloth when it comes to loyalty and putting their all into their work.

Who should he have started? Travinski? Wyeth?

Yeah he gambled on going with a defensive lineup. Cranford saved a run in the first and then gave up the double play out that cost us four runs. Chances are Bianco and Arnold don’t get to that ball up the middle and give up the first run that Cranford saved. We can’t help that Gio has been hurt most of the season and Drost can’t hit a breaking ball and pulls out on outside fastballs. He did what he thought would work and it backfired. It’s not an exact science when nobody is separating themselves very far from their replacement.

So can you tell skip where the dynasty coach is? He said there are none.

He’s got the best available guy behind the plate (that’s a recruiting issue, it’s been a hole every year since 2018). But the decision at 2B was inexcusable. If Bianco had to play center, play Arnold at 2B.

You dann sure cant win one when your not in the CWS regularly. It was time for a change, that was obvious. Im glad he got to retire instead of getting fired. Im looking firward to the future

Travinski would have hit better than Milazzo if he wasn’t hurt. And DH who? The rant kept changing who they wanted to be the DH or play in the field. Whoever DH’s that doesn’t get a hit will be the wrong choice also. How many times did we hear that Beloso or Bianco was an automatic out?
