And it sucks he didn’t get it. Pulling him when he was hot going into the 8th might be the worst call I’ve seen CJJ make so far this year. Let the kid stay in. If he starts off slow you can pull him but pulling him just because it was the 8th was a bad call. He still had the momentum. Luckily because our offense is so damn good we still won!
WE ARE LSU. Omaha here we come!

This is series 3 of 10. If this was the CWS, I agree.

I can only imagine the reaction here if SKENES were to get hurt after throwing 100+ pitches…

He was around pitch 106. These aren’t the Ben McDonald days. Pitch count shut him down.

You want to ride our ace pitcher 130 pitches in the second SEC series?

Glad you aren’t the coach

Pitcher W-L mean nothing, so who honestly cares?

Skenes doesn't.

107 pitches in the high 90s takes a toll on the arm
It’s a long season no need to lose your ace..
Tigers won is all that matters

Doesn't matter in the grand scheme. What everyone in the nation took away from the game is this: Skenes>>>>>>>Dollander

I learned a long time ago that pitcher wins are the most useless stat.

Skenes got an attaboy from me, which should cheer him up.

Good thing TD wasn’t around when Patrick Coogan threw 138 pitches in the College World Series in 97

Strongy disagree.

Your ace is vital in postseason tournaments. Why push his pitch count in a late March game even in an SEC game that's hanging in the balance?

Eta: especially with an offense that you have? Go with what you know. My guess is JJ knows he had an offense that will come through more often than not, and would rather take that chance than risk losing a late March game early into the SEC calender and potentially rising future injury for the ace.

OP take is typical dumbass no clue about sports shite. I can just see the debate in mlb draft rooms….”we were going to pick Skenes, but should we because he didn’t get the win against Tenn last March?”

Pulling him that early was very risky in that situation. This guy can handle the high pitch count and showed no signs of fatigue. The even dumber decision was putting in an unproven reliever.

Wins can be one of the flukiest stats when it comes to evaluating a pitcher. Quality Starts is a better metric IMO. We all saw Skenes tonight.

Pulling him when he was hot going into the 8th might be the worst call I’ve seen CJJ make so far this year. Let the kid stay in."

The same coach coached his squad to the win against a tough Tenn team setting LSU up in good position to win this weekends' series. You just can't ask fairly for more than that. Coach looks big picture.

He had over 100 pitches. You want him to throw more?
