Since 1/9/2012.....Les Miles and Sean Payton - Why the difference?

Just an observation and a point of curiosity for me...
1/9/2012 seems to be the popular date to attribute the beginning of the end for CLM and the "wheels coming off the program".
So, since then, LSU has gone 35-14, a 71.4 winning percentage, while the Saints have gone 29-29, 50%.
To be fair, I'll take out out 2012, since Sean wasn't coaching and just look at 2013 till present.
LSU is 25-11, 69.4%....and the Saints are 22-20, 52.3%.
The numbers strongly suggest that the Saints have stumbled worse...
Now, I don't follow the Saints quite as close as the Tigers, but I have watched enough this year to see Sean make a few clock management SNAFU's that Les would have been hung for...But you never really hear much about it.
And even before the rumors got started with Les a couple weeks back, seems like there was always a constant "Les has to go" noise in the background, but not nearly as much, if at all with Sean Payton.
Les has 1 NC, Sean has 1 SB, roughly around the same time, roughly the same tenure...Lots of similarities, but very different treatment.
Thoughts as to why?

The playing field is more level in the NFL compared to Les having a more talented team than just about everyone he plays, yet he plays down to their level.

Payton got the equivelant of the NCAA death penalty from the NFL
Miles's program never rivaled SMU.

I know there's "some" substance to the parity argument, but not sure I'm completely buying it. Wasn't it last year that only 4 out of the Saints 16 regular season games were against teams that were above 500 the previous year?
Also, everyone wants to hold Les to the Saban/Bama standard, why not hold Sean to the Belichick/Patriots standard?

Sean Payton took a franchise whose players were working out in a parking lot in San Antonio the year before and immediately got them to the NFC Championship game and three years later a Super Bowl win. To compare any of that to Les Miles is a joke to the point of being offensive.

And "exactly" what has he done since then? Wasn't that the 2009 season...Six years ago!
Has the "trend" not been downward since rhen?
I get that a NC doesn't guarantee your job forever...does 1 SB?
Just asking???

Your whole premise is wrong. Just go look at Saints Talk. People have been calling for Payton's head for two years now.

You are complete idiot. You are comparing the NCAA to the NFL. No team in the NFL is expected to go undefeated or 15-1 every season. The expectation at LSU is a championship. EVERY.FRICKING.YEAR.

The Saints have an offense, LSU doesn't. Even though the Saints lose games they are still exciting on offense. LSU games can be rather boring and frustrating. I think this some of the reasoning for this. People are tired of watching old man football.

BECAUSE PEOPLE HAVE NEVER LIKED MILES. THEY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT IT TAKES TO RUN A TOP LEVEL PROGRAM IN THE TOUGHEST DIVISION IN THE HISTORY OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL. WHEN SABAN GOT HERE IN 2000 THE SEC WEST WAS DOGSHIT. ITS MUCH TOUGHER NOW. YOU PEOPLE WHO THINK IT WILL BE EASY TO WIN IS STUPID.

Do you even SEC West? That statement sums up the freaking problem. Every coach in the west makes over $4MM. All the schools have built or are building facilities that rival ours. Last I chested LSU's football operations center was one of the oldest in the SEC at only 8 years old. We are not Florida State in the 90's playing in an otherwise bare conference.

Not that I'm buying the overall comparison, but didn't Les actually coach his guys that had Fats Domino and relatives sleeping on his couch and a practice facility used as a relief shelter and immediately take that team to the SECCG that very year, then a #3 finish the next year and an SEC and NC win the year after that??
Is it really a joke to compare the accomplishments there??

You can't be dumb enough to suggest that getting even the worst NFL teams as opponents is equivalent to getting to run over schools like EMU, Syracuse, and Troy every year?

Ok, then how about just comparing their winning percentages in SEC play??
Again, I'm not really buying the comparison, but the replies you guys make are just plain stupid. How old are yall?

Even within SEC play we still have a significant talent advantage over teams like S. Carolina.
