Nunder Hill reported in Baton Rouge's The Advocate today - "Coaches will push hard to give highly touted freshman Myles Brennan snaps in camp, Orgeron said. Coaches plan to hold simultaneous scrimmage-like drills on adjacent practice fields- one captained by presumed starter Danny Etling and the other by, potentially Brennan."

We aren't winning a title this year so get Brennan better. All we ask Etling to do is be a manager like QB anyways

We should expect to be in the SEC title hunt every year, and sometimes rushing a QB into the game can hurt them.

If he's good enough, I see no problem with getting him ready as fast as possible.

Josh Rosen threw for 320 ypg and 10 TDs in 6 starts as a true freshman for UCLA.

Little concerned about the message it's sending that they keep talking about getting him so many camp snaps and nothing about Lowell. I guess because he was here in spring?

They are expanding how many teams they use in practice to get each player more reps, not just Brennan

My thinking too, just getting Brennan up to speed, to where Lowell is. So everyone's starting on the same level among the freshmen QB's.

I think the Brennan hype is just that, hype to get him superficially in the mix, but if it is serious, it's about preparing him to be the true backup. Also, since Orgeron said they would like the young guys to get meaningful reps in the early games this year (unlike Miles), being backup means first one in.

Sometime after the spring practices, Orgeron said Narcisse might be a good one, but he is rusty, having been away from football for a year. Plus, trying to get Narcisse's legs up to speed after injuries could be in the plan as well.

Narcisse is a fine player, but Brennan is better in pretty much every statistical category. Myles had a higher yards per carry average in high school, while throwing for 10,000 more yards and 100 more TDs. Also, Brennan's completion rate for his career was 67%. Narcisse's was 55%. Oh, and Myles won't be playing on 2 surgically reconstructed knees.

What about Lindsey Scott?
He has accomplished no less than Brennan, having grown from 5' 9" to 6'3"!

speak for yourself Chadboy. I think we have a better chance to win this year than last year. Etling can be a WHOLE LOT better than a manager. will he? I don't know but he has the talent and now the experience.

sounds like you're giving up on this team before the year even starts. change your mindset man; get positive.

As long as if we get up comfortably we send the freshmen in and pass every goddamn play. Running the score up is incidental. It's all about experience. Tired of finding out last year's backup didn't learn enough in practice in SEC play.

I agree. In doing so they are also expanding their options on the field.

Well, they've seen Lowell in practice since the Spring. Maybe it says something that they are more concerned about getting Brennan up to speed to come in should we need him than Narcisse...

Umm, probably not. Lowell had two ACLs in consecutive seasons, putting him two years behind where Brennan is. Lowell is a stud, and immensely talented, but his knees are nowhere near ready for the SEC. Brennan, on the other hand, has been adding weight and muscle mass, and is expected to be at 205# by game 1 kickoff.

Danny is the starter, and likely will remain so. But pushing Brennan also lights a fire under Danny's arse as well. Good strategy.

Orgeron also said yesterday that they plan on playing

McMillan, Scott, Brennan, Narcise in blow outs next year to get whoever the backup quarterback is live reps.

Can get lots more tape on guys with this concept as well. I like the idea, you learn by making mistakes then having those mistakes pointed out to you. Once you see them, get your orders on how to fix them, then work on it. Pretty easy if you actually believe in your coaches which I believe they do.

Look at all these latest pictures, this team is having a blast together while working. There's nothing more powerful then a positive environment to work in. That can make for one close, powerful, smart team who plays hard for each other. Give that extra effort to help your teammates out, which in turn helps you out because they are doing the same thing.

I really like this environment coach O is creating for these players. I also believe this will eventually elevate LSU recruiting above even bama recruiting once LSU starts winning equally in the eyes of national recruits. At LSU we are all business but it's freakn fun at the same time. The new recruits on roster will be giving those visiting recruits an ear full while while here. If we have the on the field results with the positivity on the sidelines it could be HUGE for LSU's future in recruiting nationwide. GT

There could be a lot of answers to this...

They could already know they want to redshirt him in order to get the knee as healthy as possible.

They could have already seen enough to know he's not a legitimate option this year.

They could have already written him off completely.

I don't think this tells us anything other than Narcisse really isn't in the picture at the moment.

Wow talk about growth spurt. 5'8 to 6'4 geez. All doubters will soon doubt no more. Dude was unstoppable at 5'7 can't imagine what he can do at 6'5.
