"In my 23 years, he's unquestionably the best I've seen at running back," said Mitch Small, the marketing director for the Louisiana High School Athletic Association. "I've seen Kevin Faulk, Cecil Collins, Warrick Dunn, Travis Minor, who people forget was the national high school player of the year.......
"He's head and shoulders above those guys."
Also intrigued was Peterson, the NFL's reigning Most Valuable Player. Upon hearing about the Louisiana kid who was being favorably compared to him, Peterson sat down recently at the Vikings' training facility to watch YouTube videos of Fournette. The first word out of the Minnesota Vikings' All-Pro running back's mouth: "Wow."
One major college coach who has recruited the New Orleans area for decades insisted Fournette is talented enough to play for the Saints right now. In fact, he said Fournette was better than any back on the Saints' roster, which incudes Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram."

. LF is probably good, but its rare that the huge recruits turn out to be that big of impact.
Like Patrick Peterson and JR

Not to mention JR and PP7 turned out damn good as hyped up recruits

What about PP7 and JR?
Posted on 4/29/14 at 2:43 pm to LSU Patrick
I didn't realize I posted it twice. They were 2 major recruits who were hyped as great and lived up to it.

RP was teh top Qb in the nation
I thought that was Mark Sanchez.
Whatever the case, I have never seen a RB coming to LSU with the overall national rating/hype of LF.

every HS player's height is inflated. The combine always proves that to be true.
shite he might even be 5'11". Still a perfect size for a RB.
there isnt much difference from a 5'10"ish Frank Gore and a 5'11"ish LF
So you're giving Gore an inch and taking two inches from Fournette?
Gore is listed at 5'9, not 5'10 ish. Fournette is listed at 6'1 not 5'11 ish. Even if Fournette is not exactly 6'1, he's about 6' 1/2 and Gore is possibly 5'9 1/2. It's still a 3 inch difference and that's a big arse difference.

Fournette is definitely 6'1 because I am 5'11 and he was a good 2 inches taller

I am not an LSU expert like most of you here, but I know of two big busts (shepard and perriloux) in recent LSU history.
Don't let Les hear you say that ole boy, he has made it clear i believe there are no "busts" in the LSU program.

I can't help but notice that he 19. He is obviously a huge talent and his age cannot negate his accomplishments on the field play. This might make it easier for him to handle the RB rotation as a TF.

He turned 19 3 months ago. After his senior season was over. Not uncommon at all.

HS guys can be 2-3 inches off. Yea, id say he's closer to 5'11" than 6'1".
Gore is listed at 5-10 usually, but officially was 5'9" and change at the combine.
My whole point is, in that height range, RBs can have the same skillset's and running styles.
It's not like we're talking Maurice Jones Drew(on the small side) or Eric Dickerson (on the tall side.
5'9" to 6' is ideal for RBs. a 5'9" 220 RB doesn't isn't any different than a 6' 220 RB

3 extra inches on a RB can do a lot of things. The taller the more bulk your upper body can sustain thus giving more power. Running styles look a lot diff with a taller guy then a smaller guy. By being taller you have better pass catching abilities as well. There are many advantages being taller can have so no it's not the same at all.

I can't really think of any.
taller RBs go down easier, and are a bigger target to hit.
the best RBs are under 6'. There are some exceptions, of course.
