Sour grapes coming from a fan base that takes pride in injuring opposing teams' players.

This thread is full of confusion. The OP mentioned something about Alabama fans being a fanbase that takes pride in injuring other teams players or something....and I don't get where that comes from.

Yeah I was pretty pissed at #7 after that shite myself. That could have easily costed us the game. Pinned us deep. We had a really good return too. I love my tigers but I thought that play was just stupid.

I'm sick of fellow LSU fans defending this hit. It was a selfish dirty play that could have cost LSU the game. I'm also sick of #7 talking trash after every single blasted play even if he gets burned. LSU does not need his mess as a player and he is expendable; the Auburn game proved that.

He threw the guy on the ground from behind. I personally call that dirty play but other obviously others don't

I agree, somewhat. I like his trash talking, however, I'd like to see him do what made him popular in the first place. Make plays.

Anyone can and does (for both teams, see Maze at the beginning of last night's game) jaw jack during the game. Just tone it down a little. Not much, just a little. You didn't raise people's eyebrows by running your mouth. Again, to reiterate, keep doing it, just tone it down and do what made you so popular in the first place. He can do it.

Lighten up a little...I do agree that it was a bad penalty to take at that point. Kirkpatrick and Mathieu had been going back and forth the entire game...Mathieu picked the wrong time to exact his revenge.

I just tired of the whole act. I know football is a tough guy macho sport, but there are times when one needs to step back. #7 needs to learn this and hope he will because he is of great value to the defense (but not indispensable) but not at the cost of foolish penalties like that. I guess I just have a differing view of what is dirty; Its not fairly dirty but still cheap (the hit).

I didn't like it either...and I do wish he would tone it down just a little.

So do you think that it would have been dirty had Kirkpatrick not gotten hurt? After watching the replay it looks like Mathieu grabs his shoulder and spins him around.

First off, you have to be surrounded by Tide fans to understand what I am saying. I don't have "links" to prove my point, but my parents live on the Bama coast so I listen to this shite on a regular basis. Also, my best friend's wife is a Bama fan and her family is as well. I constantly have to listen to how they cart off players on a regular basis that play the Tide.

Second, it wasn't a dirty hit, stupid yes, but not dirty. Kirkpatrick was gunning on Beckham and in the speed of the game, I believe TM got desperate and misjudged the play. He probably thought Kirkpatrick had a chance to tee off on Beckham. It was an obvious hold as called after reviewing the play. It was not a "closeline" as Bama fans are making it out to be.

Third, if anyone was acting like a thug and jawing, it was Kirkpatrick the entire game. When the camera turned to them, it was always Kirkpatrick jawing at TM and Mathieu didn't appear to be saying a lot back to him.

Fourth, TM didn't appear too happy after the play when the camera panned to the sideline. He didn't seem like a guy who was proud of what just transpired. I would expect a different reaction if he had meant to injure the guy.
