Citadel seemed to move the ball relatively well against them. Just surprise them with it next year and don't pull it out against anyone else. This is probably a dumb idea but I would love to see how it would work with our athletes and catching them by complete surprise.

Why not.
It isn’t like we can embarrass ourselves much more against Bama.

Yes, that seems like the sort of offense you can just whip out whenever you feel like it and execute pretty easily without any game reps.

You need good offensive coaching and play calling to take advantage of talent. LSU does not have either.

Well it can't do any worse against Bama than the offense we run now

You can add option wrinkles, but going full triple option would be really, really dumb.

Scheming against an opponents weakness? Who does that?

You realize you would have to recruit a whole different scheme of players right? That would be close to impossible.

Geezus. I guess no one here wants a modern offense like I thought.

Suggestions today:

1. Run Joe Burrow more (like Jordan Jefferson)

2. Run a triple option

3. We dont want any "sissy" big 12 offenses.

Yes. Because installing a triple option is so easy to do right in the middle of the season. I think about 20-30 minutes at the end of practice on Wednesday of Bama week should suffice.

You realize all you need for triple option is a decently mobile QB and two solid rb's to play the wing positions.. no one would have to go and recruit "triple option players" lol

Technically, you can run a triple-option out of spread / shotgun formations.

If you already operate read-options, you should be able to implement a second read option (hence, triple-option) relatively easily.

You would need a competent spread scheme, of course, before you even contemplated it.

It sounds good on paper, but it's not something you run one game a year.

I wouldn’t mind LSU doing anything at this point. Auburn pulled out the hb pass for a td.

The triple option has become the go to system for schools that really can’t compete otherwise

And I am not advocating it

But I’m wondering why it wouldn’t work with better talent? Or why it stoped working. Didn’t Nebraska run it in the 90s?
