Like most of you, I am looking forward to watching and will be watching online.

However, aside from giving us a glimpse of a little football smack in the middle of the eight months of no football, should LSU stop doing it?

I see very little upside to it. Even if very vanilla, you are giving your opponents additional tape. Also, in a year like this in which there is already a lot of angst around the QB position, showing the fan base two hours of scrimmage will do little to calm down the rhetoric.

Like I said, I will be watching myself but I'd rather things be largely kept under wraps for competitive reasons.

We've been running the same plays for years. Not much to hide my man.

The Spring game is for the fans. The fans are the ones who donate\spend their money so the football team can have nice things.

Keep the fans happy

Uhhhhhhhh...pretty much every school does it. No school is showing everything in their arsenal. Other than being boring as crap, I'm sure LSU will keep on having one. Good day to bring in recruits and their families and get to know them a little bit better.

Have you heard a team ever say in a post-victory press conference "Man you know what really made the difference out there? That Spring game tap we got. I mean we just knew what they were gonna call every step of the way."

Can we take bets that that will be the first play of the season against McNeese?

LSU Football is a business. They want the fans talking about anything associated with the program 365 days a year. I want to see the QB's and if they have improved. I don't hold the game in some extreme regard though.

Teams aren't prepping for lsu during fall practice with 12 other teams on their schedule, except Mcneese a couple weeks before the game.

After the Mcneese game teams will have much more meaningful film than anything in the spring game anyway.

If we were opening with an Oregon or Wisconsin I could see us not showing new defensive packages. But running a 4-3 cover 2 zone isn't showing much outside of maybe a new pass rusher emerging that might require more attention. But like I said after the first game teams have that film anyway

It's completely unnecessary. But as others have said, it's an event for the fans and a way to promote the football program.

Then have a REAL Spring game, not just a boring, glorified practice session. The current format is worthless and not interesting to anybody but LSU die-hards with nothing else better to do.

How about a real game against an Alumni team and at NIGHT. That would be worth attending. The current format at 1 in the afternoon is not.........

Our alumni are either in the NFL or not in shape to play football lol. I doubt their pro teams would appreciate that. It would def be something id watch tho. Would they be coached by a former coach lol? Watching saban come coach all of miles' NFL players against miles' college players would be an event for sure ha

I'm going to go WAAAAAAY out on a limb here and say LSU has never ever ever ever ever lost a game because of the film opponents got from the spring game.

The spring game is for the fans and for the players. We thirst for football and the players are tired of drills and practice scrimmages. They enjoy playing something close to a real football game.

To your question, no I don't think we should get rid of the spring game.
