at least until one of them show they can be a leader of the offense. I see no reason why we shouldn't give each QB a few series to see who has the hot hand for the game.

I'm not a big fan of a 2 QB system, but I do think that JL deserves an opportunity to run the offense while we are early in the season.
It sure as shite don't get any easier a couple weeks from now.

I think we should see both qbs. But i don tthink we need a 2 qb system. Just like with rbs...we need to stick with one main guy and use the others when necessary.

You have a point, but we're not using our second guy. It might actually help JJ to wacth from the sidelines what the db's are doing once in a while.

JJ is the named leader by the coaching staff, but he's not leading by example with play on the field and the whole team knows it. If they don't play JL some, it will hurt morale on the team.

no, not unless it's completely scripted, and mixes up strategy. I certainly don't want a repeat of 04 with either QB afraid to make a little slip-up.

With that said, what could be done is the following...

1. Run mostly traditional play-action, pro-style offense with either Lee or JJ
2. Dump the 5 wide stuff...neither QB has ever had any success here
3. If you want to include some option / zone read stuff, let Shepard or Ware run it

For those wanting this, be careful what you wish for.

This is what pisses me off. If they are going to run the option, why not use shep or ware as the qb?

+1

Florida '06. Leak was the QB, but they had the package of plays for Tebow. Worked out pretty well for them. Imagine Shepard at QB if the defense actually had to respect the threat of a pass.

If this hasn't happened by now, it's not going to ever happen. Too many people here hoping for a miracle with our QB play.

They both are horrible. At this point, it comes down to the least horrible option. I'd give Lee a shot to see if that's him. But after watching him against LaTech and Bama last year, don't hold your breath.

A guy by the name of Jason Campbell begs to differ.

I agree but this is way different than 04. JL should at least get a few series even if we're not going full two QB system

Neither come close to a Jason Campbell. We don't have a QB coach. But hey, keep dreaming if it makes you feel better.

No!

That only leads to you having 2 QB's who are not getting the playing time needed to develop instead of one.

If JL isn't better than JJ, he is damn sure close enough to warrant some playing time

I disagree. If we go to a 2 QB system, it will be eerily similarto 2004. You will have two QBs running the same freaking system, just to see if one can get hot. Same thing in 04, you had a gifted QB who wasn't ready and a less gifted QB running the same freaking offense. This situation is not like Florida with Tebow and Leak, where Tebow could come in and run different packages and force defenses to prepare for two types of QBs. Our situation would just be two ineffective QBs running the same style offense, with the hopes one will make some plays... switching them haphazardly until one completes some throws... and destroying both of their confidences in the process.

This isn't the same as running a two QB system. This is just another tryout to determine who THE QB should be. Which is something they should have figured out by now, and they probably realize what everyone (not a rant poster) already knows... LSU still does not have an effective QB.

while i'm not a big fan of a two qb system, i think our present situation calls for it and it will help our team win games. it would present problems for opposing defenses. however, i do not think rotating them every series or two will work. maybe go with the hot hand or give 'em a half each and see what happens. this would be a REAL qb competition.

Alabama 09' is an example of waiting a bit too long.
