Washington always gave mike leach fits by playing zone. I wonder why we were so head strong about playing man?

It’s not just that we played man. Its that we continued to play man with an undermanned defensive backfield who was completely exhausted because State ran a million plays in the first half.

It’s the defensive version of Les running it into a stacked box on first two downs, then calling long developing play action in max protect on 3rd every series.

so when did we practice zone defense with all these young guys.
alert - LSU has never played decent zone defense. i'm not arguing that some teams play good zone and they would have done better. it's just not us.
we were doing the best we could. we didn't have Stingley and Costello was on fire.

Maybe because last year, with better athletes overall in secondary, we sucked balls when we played zone.

Bo sucks. shite still pisses me off. 600+ passing yards. Figured he'd make adjustments at half at least.

Oh some of you fans think its so black and white. Maybe we tried zone in practice and the team isn't ready to play zone. Maybe with all the new personnel, learning zone schemes is a little more difficult to make gel and they (the coaches) knew we would be more exploited if we ran more zone. Maybe they thought running zone would allow more quick slants and routes, which would give our struggling Dline even less time to rush the QB. Maybe having a top corner out, one who could shut down one side of the field, created major holes with safety help over the top if we ran zone.

Wouldnt matter with a banged up Ward & a DB in Evans that just got on campus 2 weeks ago. Our defense still gets torched zone, man or not

Losing Stingley should have been enough to insert some zone into the scheme and then at least try to disguise zone and man coverage
