Danny certainly has a leg up, given his experience. And I guess if he looks the best man for the job, it's his. But a Lindsey Scott will be a RSFR. If he and Etling are neck and neck, do you go with experience or the man with several more years to play.

I think ya gotta let the young guys learn before they start. I'd rather Scott sit an extra year and learn than start too early and get demolished by SECW defense. Just MHO of course.

It will be interesting to see how Scott, McMillan, and Narcisse stack up in Spring. I think that, even if Etling secures the job, whoever gets the backup nod will have some designed DT QB packages to shake things up.

ETA- and I guess most of us just assume Harris will transfer out. If he doesn't, he could be a huge X-Factor.

After his last game I have to question if you are racist. No other reason to want another QB.

I kind of expect he's gone. Although I've said several times don't rule him out if he sticks around under another (spread) offense. He's got his own issues to work on (short passes, reads). But he does have a high upside than Etling. If he was in a spread system that also used his mobility from the start, his college career might have gone differently.

I think now that O is locked in, the Harris ship has sailed. I think it's telling that O's camp chose to stick with Etling and never even played Harris in mop up duty.

The offense looks like it has a clue and a plan with Etling. Why don't we wait and see how the coaches who get paid millions decide who the best option is?

Hopefully the oc will mold the offense to suit his players abilities.

For only the second time since 2007 do we have a QB who doesn't terrify us that he will lose the game, and actually MAKES plays, and some people want him replaced

He could be the best QB in the conference next year.

Les Miles gets fired and the QB play greatly improves.... imagine that.

Made me say hmmmm when O said you need a dual threat QB in today's football at the presser today.

If he brings in an OC and expects that philosophy does he delay it until Etling is done?

Surely we can find some kid that was 2nd string at Mamou ... we need a QB that sounds like us and stuff ... someone who really loves LSU.

Don't agree or care for bashing Coach O, but this was funny. Baw said second string at Mamou :)

Etling is not a spread QB. He's a pro style, game manager QB.

Alabama went with Hurts over Barnett because the dual "threat" is what makes that type of spread works. The power spread need the threat of the QB running the ball. The threat of getting to the edge and winning the 1 on 1 matchups are key.

Etling in the spread would be like Sean white from Auburn - limited. Additionally the spread concepts and route trees are easier to learn than a pro style so a underclassman have a shorter learning curve to play early.

I forgot what coach it was, but he would put the QB he was grooming for the future in for one series every game. I always thought that was a great idea. A little experience and familiarity couldn't hurt

Absolutely. He gets the nod going into next year. A new OC will have this offense streamlined.

And I'll go out on a limb now and say that LF7 comes back for his senior year. I can't imagine he would want to go out on an injury plagued season.
