He is had a year of experience with the Chicago Bears. And his name alone is going to attract The best offensive lineman for recruiting purposes. You can't get no better teacher than a Hall of Famer.

he should force Tyrann to retire and become Defensive Backs coach. Get Josh Booty to coach the QBs. Bring in Glenn for the D Line. Brad Wing can coach special teams. Get the whole gang here.

Yes but the rant experts will be along shortly to tell us that the guy that will be an NFL hall of famer at one of the smartest positions on the field can't teach technique or how to read defenses.

I say we hire everyone with Louisiana and/or LSU ties. They're one of us. It's been proven time and time again that coaches with ZERO prior affiliation with the state and/school can't succeed at a place like LSU.

Being a Hall of Fame player has no relation to whether he is a good coach. I'm willing to try any reasonable person at OL coach, though.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't get a call to talk about it, at least.

He has less than a year of experience. And he's an assistant to the assistant OL coach

Since we are going the Louisiana route, they need to call Todd McClure. He is already close to campus by living in Zachary.

This kind of sarcasm doesn't make a lot of sense when you consider that Mawae was very interested in the position and interviewed for it a couple years back. Miles supposedly gave him proper consideration before choosing Grimes, though it's questionable to what degree Miles did consider him.

As far as coaching experience, his current stint with the Bears is most meaningful, but if I'm not mistaken, I think he did some grad assistent level coaching in Tennessee or Kentucky.

Not sure what's going on with Grimes, but if he's not staying, I think Mawae is a potentially legitimate candidate, and possibly a strong one.

One last point... being a smartass tends to work better if you have some understanding of the topic at hand.
