I used to think the same thing. I've come to hate LSU fans worse than other fanbases. I get joy out of seeing them meltdown and watching and listening to their angst ridden tirades. Too many of these assholes get their self worth and live vicariously through LSU football.

I'm pretty sure every LSU fan realizes LM is human.

That's not why he's being criticized.

These posts are not being downvoted because of what was posted, but why it was posted. Les is a great human being, a class act all around. He is a man of character, and there is no doubt in my mind that he wants nothing but the best for his kids family as well as the kids he coaches at LSU and their families as well. LSU could not ask for better in that regard. It is disgusting, however, to use the tragedy of Les's sister's death as an excuse to divert attention from Les's shortcomings as a coach.

Well said. The "I'm a les fan not an lsu fan" people just don't get it.

Don't think anyone has ever said that Les isn't a good man or that he isn't good to the players.

His coaching though...

No, but let the les lovers have their strawman fun.

If you think that he only works this much then you truly are a idiot. College Coaches pretty much don't get a day from June until after Signing day in Feb. Yes, they are highly paid, but they have to be all in to be successfull.

ANd many other Tiger faithful players who tweeted after the game and had very critical things to say about the coaching staff and who by the way played for Les Miles.

Sad that Les lost his sister, but what does this have anything to do with people criticizing him as a coach? Struggling with the loss of a loved one doesn't excuse not performing at your job, especially not 3 years later.

Hell, Favre lost his dad and a night later came out and played amazingly despite his understandable grief.

Stop trying to defend Les with things that have absolutely nothing to do with why he's getting criticized and people won't down vote it. Plain and simple.

This is pretty lame. To bring up a death in the family three years later to help soften a loss and subliminally defend a coach's failures?

Really? How is THIS not anchored?

We all have tragedy in our lives. I still have to go to work and perform. We all do. So...what's your point.

Wait, so the bashers can bring up 1/9 ad nauseam as the moment the program's "collapse" began, but it's "lame" to address those posts by trying to put it into context and perspective?

And the OP already said, the thread was intended to remind thebashers that CLM is a real person that the comments directed at him can truly be cruel, not just some pixelized character from their video games.

The thread is also interesting because the quote from Shep, a player the bashers like to pretend holds a grudge against CLM, holds the man in pretty high respect. Pretty relevant with all the "lost the team" talk going around, similar to the 1/9 and aftermath talk.

But nah, just deflecting right? No valid reason to post

Anybody looking for a reason to raise hell about our coach will have plenty of ammo before this season is over. There will be no need to worry about what happened years ago when this debacle ends. Worse yet, what do you think those 17-18 kids are going to think about watching us get humiliated weekend after weekend. Think they want to play for a bottom feeder? The shine is in the process of wearing off.

Yes, because it represents a consistent narrative within the realm of football that shows Miles shortcomings as a coach. It is the clear turning point (as time has proven so far) of the program.

To bring Miles' sister's death into this discussion NOW is forced and, honestly, quite low.

Unless the OP is suggesting Miles never dealt with her death and her death has negatively affected him as a coach ever since?

If he is saying that, fine. Anything else should be anchored.
