I just don't understand why we give up on kids so early in our hoops program. Of course, I have no clue why he left (his or LSU's choice) but we need more kids who want to play for LSU.

He has 12-5-5-4 tonight..not great but he is a pretty good player on a team that is WAY better than LSU right now.

Just saying!

He left because he wasn't getting any playtime because he was slower than Elbert. There is no way he would have developed the same way here, even if we had a decent coach.

I was waiting on this thread

I watched the game and Hammink had some really athletic highlight dunks tonight. He may not have fit in at LSU. Sometimes a change of scenery can do wonders for a kids development.

I've been saying this. He would have been a SR. He would have given us more length, another athletic body, and someone with a little IQ. But Johnny just wants guys that on paper can drain 3's and create mismatches..not actual players.

Well Johnny did recruit and sign him and at no point during his LSU career did Shane exhibit athleticism or any impressive basketball IQ.

He seems to have found a little.

How many others on our roster have demonstrated those characteristics?
I suspect that he had as much basketball ability as say, Rickey Blanton. Rickey contributed greatly.

Oh yeah. Basketball IQ is the immediate term that comes to mind when thinking of Josh Gray, Tim Quartermann et al. Oh and LOL to anyone who thinks Johnny Jones had to recruit Geert Hammink's son to play for us.

He had a player and-in a familiar theme-didn't know WTF or HTF to do with him or develop him.

Dude's a stooge.

Good coaches find ways to turn average players into a good team. LSU doesn't have a decent basketball coach.

Not completely true. He didn't commit until after Jones was hired. Was likely coming to LSU regardless.

Yeah I was a fan but he was slammed by the Rant while he was here. Didn't get the playing time I thought he should have gotten and was disappointed when he left.

His father and Dale got him here. Pretty clear that JJ didn't want him. Could have really developed at the point.
