I think it was really brief. Bama is mostly all about Bama.

Pretty stupid that fans are still chanting that B.S. Like the South is some kind of Southern Bloc nation. I will hate to see the day we actually lose a big bowl game and have it bite us in the arse. Riding the coat tails of other conference teams on a collective level is shameful and down right embarrassing. The only team I cheer for is LSU, and I'm sorry for those who cheer for a conference. People who chant S-E-C need to wear SEC clothing instead of their team/university gear. It's retarded and backwards as hell!

I disagree. Nothing wrong with having pride in your conference and with your region of the US. I've pulled for LSU and Florida as if I were a fan of those schools. I always want to see us beat the other teams.

Why are we the only conference who does this? Makes us look like we have some regional inferiority complex. Almost as bad as the Granny Clampett fans in our conference who fly rebel flags and claim the South is going to rise again.

can't say I agree with you at all....being a member of the SEC has a heck of a lot of benefits...

one is straight up dollars...all teams split the total take from bowl games, which typically turns out to be a hell of a lot...

the other biggie is the respect that is earned from playing the level of competetion that is present in the SEC...often gives us the benefit of the doubt where rankings, bowl selection, etc. are concerned....

frankly, I can't really think of any reasons at all to not pull for the rest of the conference....

only remotely valid argument is recruiting and even it has some holes in it. in general, it benefits us greatly to have the SEC dominate the BCS.

How is the level of competition superior in the SEC? We have been able to produce the best teams half the years since the BCS system has been in use, but our overall conference and bowl records are rarely the highest. If I'm not mistaking, the Big 10 actually had a better all-around bowl record this season than anybody. Also, USC has literally dominated SEC teams this decade, and Oklahoma alone has more national titles than any individual team in the SEC.

Bama would disagree with this.

that's awesome that you can point out a couple of schools, but we are talking about conferences and what bowl games they go to. not all bowl games are created equal. by your logic the independents are the dominate conference this year with the crushing Mountain West right behind them .

consistency has a lot to do with it too the Big 10 that you use as your example went 1-5 last year.

Name another conference that has produced 3 differant national champions in one decade, much less 3 in 3 years.
That is competition at its finest.

You are going to tell me that Alabama's phantom 12 national titles are more than Oklahoma's 7 legitimate national titles? Get real!

The Big 8 (now the Big 12) has accomplished this before in numerous decades.
