Not looking at the data and just watching, Skenes and Crews are beast!

What was Skenes' WHIP?

Not on the SEC stats and not reported on the LSU site either. If I'm doing it right, Paul had:
IP - 122.2
Hits - 72
BBs - 20

WHIP = (72 + 20)/122.667 = 0.750

With the season Skenes had he was overshadowed but Ty Floyd ended up in the top 5 of almost every pitching category. He would have been a Friday night guy on a lot of staffs in the SEC this year.

These are stats for all games as ranked with the rest of sec players; these aren’t SEC stats

Umm, this is one of the things that kill me with baseball:
quote:

Fielding pct
------------
Devin Burkes, UK........... 1.000
Enrique Bradfield, VU...... 1.000
Dylan Crews, LS............ 1.000
Tavian Josenberger, AR..... 1.000
Ben Anderson, UG........... 1.000
Hunter Ensley, UT.......... 1.000
Tommy Seidl, UA............ 1.000
Kemp Alderman, UM.......... 1.000
Ryan Waldschmidt, UK....... 1.000
Caden Rose, UA............. 1.000
Clark, Kellum, MS.......... 1.000
Evan Stone, SC............. 1.000
Brayden Jobert, LS......... 1.000
Josh Pearson, LS........... 1.000
Cole Wagner, UG............ 1.000

I guess the Kentucky incident doesn't factor in, because he never touched the ball. But it's crazy that we all saw him overrun the play to the point he flat missed a fly ball, and that doesn't affect his fielding %. Same thing with some of the infielders, you can have a great % if you're a statue, never get to 2/3 of the balls hit to your position that others can make, and you don't flub the balls hit straight to you.

It’s why number or errors made can be extremely misleading when you’re trying to evaluate how good someone is defensively. The elite players get to more balls, thus significantly increasing the chance of making errors.

Skenes only allowing 28 runs in 122.2 IP is mind blowing.

Skenes' final season stats. Amazing.

Brayden misplayed a ball vs Iowa at Round Rock. Shows up as a hit in the box score but probably should've been caught. Conversely, the greatness of Tre's play vs WF only shows as out at home via 3-2.

Misplayed in RF

Bur credit to Jobert. OF wasn't his natural position and he was solid down the stretch.

Crews with more runs (100) than any non-LSU player had hits (Jack Moss A&M 93). Damn.

Not lsu but it may be a while before we see another base stealer like E. Bradford at Vandy. And this year was not as good for him as last and he still crushed the field in that department. Will be interesting to see if he gets drafted to team that actually encourages base stealing

Alex Milazzo hit .289 for the season. Broke his leg hustling to score a run and freaking was the boss at framing pitches. LSU won every game he started in Omaha and lost the 2 he didn’t. That is not a knock on Travinski at all. Just how it worked out.

I agree Milazzo helped the pitching more especially during the week when that ball park played 3 times bigger than it really was but Travinski caught Game 1 of the CWS which LSU won 6-3.

Exactly. Floyd was underappreciated all year.
I thought Floyd had 7 wins going into Omaha - didn't he win one of his starts in Omaha for 8 wins?

Not a big deal but the one catchers interference call on Milazzo was bogus - the batter was out of the batters box and the ump just missed it.

How many total times did Crews reach base? The Tommy White batting almost .700 is so incredible because it happened what - 200 times?

Calvin Harris only threw out 7 kids on 62 attempts at catcher. That is as worse as it can be.

I bet he also had some of the best plays at short stop and also had some of the best range. Had to be top 4-5 in the SEC or better. Plus the one game in the CWS finals hurt his overall numbers. Wouldn’t have been as bad had he not booted those in the finals. I think he had 3 in that one game. He had a couple more throughout the CWS. It just wasn’t a great CWS for him. He played perfectly in the regional and supers. I thought he was the most dialed in of all the players for those home games. I thought it would carry over into the CWS also, it just didn’t. He got his in the last one though. Deserved it.
