This is what intrigues fans about a new coach. Good chance he does not match Les' success, BUT maybe he will. People are ready to find out.

And good lord, please just give an offense that is a threat.

Who was the coach when you were in school at LSU?

Someone posted his overall record of 110-32 - I would like to know what it looked like in first half of his career vs second half - I think outsiders would be surprised

Went to UNO. Couldn't afford to leave home. Not sure what that has to do with being an LSU sports fan but to each his own.

ETA: Dinardo then Saban were coaches in my college years.

The reason he has a job doing what he does is due to the very thing he's ridiculing then.

I think there's a word for that, but I'm not smart enough to remember it.

Reminds me a lot of a college running back at a high profile program, who was willing to quit football because the coach required too much emphasis on practice and not enough toward his study of medicine. He was going to be a medical doctor.

After several seasons in the NFL, he now sits around and talks about college football for a living.

Les wouldn't go 110-32 if you start counting from this week forward.

We'll never know for sure. It somewhat makes his tenure here that much more incredible, and goes to prove what SVP said about the fan base being spoiled. We won't get that type of run again for a long time, but we still need to chase that dragon because Les has made us accustomed to it. Reading this board, it's as if we are entitled to it.

At least we'll have that fresh feeling when we go 8-5 one of these years.

He's gonna leave soon anyways. Prob in the next 2 years, LSU is going in the wrong direction now and it's the right decision to stop it now. I'm sure Les had a dream about handing over LSU to Cam and BDP next year when he retires and wont happen now guys. Save your tears.

Meanwhile.... Booger will be on Mike & Mike in the morning to explain why LSU needs to move on from Les Miles.

I'll bet you money that whoever's next at LSU doesn't survive 11 years and doesn't go 110-32.
How many of those wins were with Saban players?

I've been watching this closely all day, and I know how some of you feel about ESPN & LSU, but I just realized they said boosters are ready to cough up "15-18 mill" to not only buy out Les, but his entire staff as well. Any truth regarding the rest of the staff? Would be kinda big if the staff goes. Sorry if this has been covered here already.

No doubt he's right.

I think people are just frustrated with the offense, and the inability to beat Alabama.

It would obviously be hard to top that overall record, but I think they could get someone who could challenge for more divisional titles, etc., because they would be willing to take more chances and max out on the talent at LSU rather than sticking to a formula that works against a good amount of teams, but struggles against ones with comparable talent.

Also, what Les did and what Les is doing now are two different things. I think there are a good number of coaches that could meet and exceed what Miles has been doing the last three years.

People are frustrated with the offense, but now the D and special teams are bad too. And when Miles looks calm as can be on the sidelines when we're committing stupid penalties and messing up plays, I don't think it helps his cause at all. People want to see some fire or a real desire for change, but Les isn't really giving off that impression.

*2 games left in current season

First 5 - 51-15 (.784)
Last 6 - 59-17 (.776)*

First 6 - 62-17 (.784)
Last 5 - 48-15 (.761)*

Since I don't know what you consider half, I split the wins and losses of the 6th season between the two here:
First 5.5 - 56.5-16 (.779)
Last 5.5 - 53.5-16 (.769)*

I can understand this line of thinking, but 5 in a row. And 5 in a row at 4+ mill a year. Not only that, but the decline in SEC wins. 10 wins is great, but SEC wins are what matter. There has to come a time for accountability.

Look, I've fought the good fight against the negatigers. Not so much because I was so pro Miles, but mostly because 99% of them are knee jerk over reactionary dumb asses, but the time has come.

There have always been reasons, or built in excuses the past couple of years. Enough to say next year can be better. But watching these past few games play out, there are no more excuses. It's just time.

I think most of the arguments in the past have been from people that watch LSU football, but not much else, because most of the criticism are the same things that you see all over college football. But you can't be paid the way Miles is paid and fail the way we have failed.

Please spare me the 110 wins talk because most of those WERE NOT FUN TO WATCH.

Oh god no. We had times where we won and we melted so hard we turned into glass. Definitely squandering a bunch of talent. Let the media.talk because they haven't watched every game and they aren't even fans of LSU. If they were then they'd sing a different tune.

Sorry if I am missing the obvious but what running back are you talking about?

Yes. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe all his staff have the "Les Miles clause" in their contracts which states they only need to be retained/paid for 6 months if Les gets fired.

I assume the new coach would bring in his own staff. But I'd think they would try to retain guys like Orgeron and Wilson if they could.

Maybe he is right, still does not excuse what has happened since the 2011 season and especially in the last 3 weeks. Feels like there are those in the media who are shrugging LSU off as if we are not worthy. Its easy for people who aren't paying close attention to use CLMs record, which is impressive but it does not tell the full story.
