After giving up 51 points to Florida, he quickly came in the next year and got us to one of the best defenses in the SEC and maintained that status every year over the next several years.

As long as you didn't need a stop on the last drive of the game, his defenses were usually very good.

His afro in college was world class.

Also, why have we not been calling him "Johnny Chavis"?

Great Coach, Better Person. Helped LSU break away from the 2008 fiasco. I am sure the staff and players will miss him.

Did very well for LSU as our DC - outside of several 3rd and Chavis end of game losses, he was Top notch.

When the other team had 55 seconds or less to drive 70 yards or more to tie the game, get a score at the end of the half or win the game in the 4th, he didn't give it up every single time.

He is the greatest defense coordinator in college football: except when the game is on the line with 2 minutes left.
